I've no idea why I can't find the original Johnny Canucker post. But no, being waived not preclude a player from being NHL calibre, many have been waived and gone on to have good NHL careers. Waivers are a reality for players at the bottom of the roster, particularly those without high draft pedigree. But hey, if his only argument is a weak appeal to authority on the situational roster management decisions of GM's, it reaffirms my position that he is not credible.
