The real winner in this deal is Austin Matthews' agent.

He got his client the years he wanted, close to the numbers he wanted (at least relevant to the years), and his client is coming off looking like a superhero to his fans because he gets to say he's helping his team and GM prepare for other negotiations and the upcoming trade deadline by signing a deal midway through the year.

Guy's just going to be reeling in new clients now. Fantastic job.

Canucks fans in 2022: Wow damn we have depth. Remember when we had garbage such as Pouliot, Gudbranson, and Granlund on our NHL roster. I think Pouliot is playing in the Swiss league and Gudbranson started his fashion career.
