Lucic on the 4th line or wotherspoon on the 3rd pair is a bandaid on a gaping wound.

Those guys are the players you have to answer the bell after something goes wrong. Which is certainly nice to have.

However the whole makeup of this team is soft. They need guys in the top 6 forward and top 4D who are tone setters and playing a heavy/draining game on the opponent.

They need the tkachuk type mixing it up and leading by example with Frederic, lucic, wotherspoon and probably another guy or two backing them up.

There’s no plug and play guy that fixes this immediately. It’s an entire identity issue with this team.

Right now they have an identity of a great to elite puck possession team with great goaltending that is built for the regular season and easily pushed around in the playoffs.

The entire team except the goalie were horrible against Washington! That's the typical outcome when we play a hitting, fast, good passing team.

Washington is none of those things.

They are one of the worst teams in the East.
