.861 SV%...again...Sigh!!!!!

You can see in their demeanor after goals how it affects them. They play hard and when they turn over the puck it's in the back of the net. It is demoralizing for us fans so imagine how it is for the players. It deflates them.

Talking about turning over the puck. The top line, especially Mack and Rant needs to simplify their game. Those two try way too often to go through 2, 3 or 4 players. They end up turning it over and lose the momentum. Especially on the PP. There shouldn't be any reason to try to go through 2 players in the slot on the PP like Mack did today.

Screw this season. This team lacks the depth in forwards. We have the top line and rest of the forwards would be in ideal situation third or fourth line players and extra forwards. Sven"PP-Specialist" Andrighetto has six points in 33 games but still somehow gets the constant PP-time. Why don't we use to defensemen in the second PP-unit and use point shots more often? Right now the both units are trying to force cross ice passes through the pk-unit and every team knows that they try to do that.

You make a good point in regards to adjustment and adaption, however the bold is just way off from any strong point you made in the beginning. No team would have scratched Iginla or Beauch. Don't get me wrong they both absolutely sucked and by a huge amount, but were on the tail end of their careers. It would look more bush league and give your organization a terrible image for future UFAs to scratch a potential future HOFer like Iginla. Avs finally realised how bad Beauchemin was and bought out his last year (that's doing something). Ian Cole is fine, he isn't a perfect, but makes this team absolutely better. Your perception is off if you think he is at Zanon, Guenin, Holden, or Beauchemin level of bad.

Arsenal was inherited an terrible team from the Wenger and Ivan era, of course Kroenke not putting money in it might say what he is as an owner. I am not trying to defend him, Avs lost some years as well with the Patrick Roy experiment which a part of it has put us into this position now.

I don't know, Jets fans said the same thing about Cheveldayoff and now they're cashing in on their golden age. They went through some problems like terrible goaltending like we are, but eventually had enough patience to find something good (or build a team that isn't reliant on goaltending).

I don't want to say that patience is the answer here because we've been through so much of it, I think we as fans have a right to be pissed a bit here. However, we're entering a time where our AHL is filled with a lot of not highly-skilled but solid depth pieces and this draft is lining up to help increase the highly-skilled part in our depth. Perhaps we need another year of losing to right this ship in the long run. As I said before, I much rather have problems be exposed now than when we're up against the Predators in a game 7 and get Pekka Rinne'd in the playoffs.

I disagree with your points. Iginla and Beauchemin were responsible for 2-3 goals against on a regular basis. They were so slow and were clearly not able to keep up with Bednar's new system at the time. They were the equivalent of what Varlamov and Grubauer are now with the Avs. Anchors keeping the team away from success.

Ian Cole, from what I've seen personally, is a liability on the ice. He's not very mobile. He's not an exceptional passer. And, he's a player that opposing teams target. Again, another player that isn't fitting the bill of being young or fast.

You say that it's also bush league to scratch guys like these. Honestly, I want me teams to show they're not packing in the season. I don't care who gets offended or what UFA's would be hesitant about coming to Colorado. Don't not try to save your season at the expense of trying to keep a couple players happy. f*** Iginla. f*** Beauchemin. f*** Ian Cole. I want to go down kicking and screaming. Not give free playing time to players that don't belong on the team.

The team is like a defeated army every time the goalies let in a poor goal. End of the season can't come soon enough.

I agree, but goaltender problems won't disappear once season is over. :/

You just knew that 3rd goal with 20 seconds left in the 2nd was going to be a huge backbreaker for this team. We dont have the confidence to handle such a goal right now and that became even more obvious with the dud of a 3rd period we put up.

Reality is setting in. Goaltending has completely destroyed any chance of a season that further built on last years. We're sitting 21st in the league right now, but we're just 2 points up on being 27th.

At least Sakic knows secondary scoring is a legitimate concern right now as he said last night, so we know that an area he is going to try and fix. And with Ottawa's pick and now our own pick looking more and more like Top 5 material, we'll have a chance to pick up some fantastic young players that should go a long way to filling the needs we have.

But unfortunately it looks like we're gonna have a new major need this summer, the same one we thought/hoped to have fixed last season.

30 games left.... Jesus, this will get ugly, very ugly......

No way is this team able to turn around this mess.

We are becoming the US-Version of the Edmonton Oilers.....

I mean...I don’t think Sakic intends to fire Bednar yet, but he also isn’t going to come out in a press conference and slam the coach either.

I fear the "point-of-no-return" has long been exceeded. The All-Star-break and Bye-week would´ve been the perfect time to right this ship.

Too me, this season is over after 82 games.

For a team that can't rely on the goalies to bail them out, they are making way too many mistakes. Not enough focus, i don't mind Bednar but the message is not getting through any more.

BUT... we need to embrace the tank!!

Let Bednar finish the season.

Grubauer or Varlamov next?

They should appeal to the NHL to see if they can both start. We'd still lose 5-4 probably.

PS

I did a bit of number crunching, in the last 22 games we have scored 3 or more goals 11 times, we've won 4 of those games. We scored 4 or more 8 times and won 4 of those games, meaning we lost all three games where we scored exactly 3 goals. Our goals for in that time period is 2.95, goals against is 3.85. We literally need to score 4 goals just to have a 50% chance of winning the game.

PS PS

I've seen a fault in my logic so I went to dig a bit deeper, turns out that we scored no more or no less than 4 goals 4 times, guess how many of those games did we win

MacK absolutely needs to step up and lead his team by example by jumping into the net to play goalie and scoring some goals. That's what Sakic and Foppa would have done.

None. We lost every single ****ing game in which we scored 3 or 4 goals. The games we won we scored 6, 2, 6, 6 and 7 goals respectively. But yeah secondary scoring is our problem

It’s a problem in the idea that the first line cannot carry this team to victory anymore. They are too worn out and over played. Goaltending is obviously a huge issue, but the first line producing 2-3 goals a game was covering up a ton of issues. When they can’t produce that, the Avs simply lose.

I agree it's a problem, I worded it poorly, I was laughing at the notion that it is the biggest problem of ours when it obviously isn't. Goaltending should be prio #1, secondary scoring #2 ...
