Ducharme explained in Romanov's case, that they don't want to skip steps in his progression. He said that if you force him up the ladder too quickly, you might end up setting him even further back. He says they don't want to push him to where they see him right away. In other words, they see him in the Top-4, if not the top pair. But they don't want to expose him to that yet for fear it will set his development back.

Kulak can’t play RD, which is also part of the issue but Edmundson can

Romanov-Weber
Chiarot-Petry
Kulak-Edmundson

Fair enough. With the way Chiarot is playing they have to look at moving him to the bottom pairing if he’s playing. What do you think the d pairings look if he’s there?

I also don’t think they should move Romanov up to the top pairing, move him to the 2nd to start with.

Dom Dom is right, moving up w Weber means facing top line opposition minutes, which Romanov isn’t ready for yet

Chiarot is simply miscast playing top line opposition which Romanov at present would be as well. Chiarot is a solid #4 Dman.

Got no issues with this mindset

Basically what we’ve done with Kotkaniemi- who is going to get his chance now. Let’s hope he takes advantage of it.

I like the lines. KK and Toffoli are playing great but they need Anderson speed more. KK need to rack up points for confidence’s sake.

Armia with our best forward/playmaker in the last few games might help him, plus Drouin and Suzuki can use a good fore checker like Armia.

Tatar-Danault-Gallagher, too good at shut down to break them up (3 GA at 5v5, still as effective as ever shutting down opposing top line)

Mete should be with Weber, he needs a fast PMD to cover for his lack of speed. Chiarot and Weber are costing us a lot of points this season with their penalties and bad plays.

Put Chiarot with Romanov or sit him out, IDC.

Well, if it’s any consolation, we have a 2 game set with Vancouver this week. I know they just beat the 2020-2021 Stanley Cup champs, but the Leafs didn’t have the Canucks’ owner playing for them.

Maybe Toffoli will crack the 20 goal mark after Wednesday.
Vancouver will be out for blood. Not sure it will matter though.

They shouldn't let Meteitus hinder their decision making. This is nowhere near the same type of player.
