Just finished my DVR recording.

- Butler had a decent game.
- I like Maroon in front of the net on the PP.
- Hell of a game by Hellebuyk
- Allen. I hope this Bronx cheer thing doesn’t catch on. I think he may be a little sensitive to the lack of fan support. If he goes in the tank, I don’t think we should push him there . I’d love to see him come back with a shut-out against Chicago.
- This is a .500 team for a couple months. They’ll look good one night and bad the next. Too many young players and new faces. It’s going to take time to get a cohesive unit that can push back against the better teams.

I was responding to Blanick.

Yes, you were asking his answer to that. I was giving my answer, butting in where I wasn't wanted (if I only butted in where I was wanted, I'd have no place to butt in). The answer to Allen melting down when things get that bad is not to let things get that bad. If Allen melts down when things aren't bad, then we need to address Allen.

Takeaways from tonight.
-Kids were good.
-PP Still needs a lot of work.
-Bouwmeester is a bottom pairing D-man now.
-Need to find team chemistry especially in transition out of Dzone
-Maroon is an anchor 5 on 5. 4th Line PP specialist.
-Allen was great until he wasn't. When things started going bad I saw old habits start to creep back in.

Ah ok. First I want to be clear I absolutely do not put this loss on Allen I felt he had a strong game. You can argue all you want about which shots you think that he should have stopped. That's not what I was watching for after the game got out of hand. One of my big critiques of him last year was when things went bad he would try to overcompensate and get way too active in net often to his detriment. Coming back to tonight's game after I believe the 4th goal went in I saw this happen again. He became shakey and over active in net once again.

Steen really botched it on that 2nd Winnipeg goal. Didn't bury his chance and then made a terrible pass to Pietrangelo which he had to dive for, eventually leading to the breakaway goal.

It’s natural to have a loss of intensity if all your focus was just to make the team. I applaud the front office for making the commitment to the young guys. We’re going to have to take some lumps once in a while, but it will pay off later.

Where would you even start forming the lines?

Clearly Majorityof1 has to be anchoring the first unit...just not from the point. He's never on point.

This is why Easton is the HFBlues coach.

(all good Mo1...I'm still keeping the bench warm;))

Update: Took the forums advice and got the frisco melt

Mind blown

Why have I been subjecting myself all these years to the mundane double steakburgers by comparison?

What other areas in my life have I been screwing up all these years?

Good night my beautiful fellow blues fans!

Only 81 more to go!
We are hear to help you not screwup anymore! Unfortunately we cannot make the Blues win.

Hellebuyck outplayed Allen is about as simple as it gets. I felt like we had plenty of scoring chances where he just came up huge. Allen isn't to blame on any of the deflection goals, but that shorthanded breakaway was pitiful and those are big saves you need from your #1 goalie. He played well for about 45 minutes and then had his usual meltdown. 5 goals on 25 shots should NEVER happen.

Kyrou and Thomas already look like legit NHLers. Thomas dances around the zone with the puck like McDavid or Kane does, I was very impressed with him tonight. Kyrou on a line with Schwartz and Schenn just feels right. The kid wasn't afraid to take a hit when he needed to, made smart passes, gave some effort on the defensive side by having a good stick.

Barbashev looked like the Barbashev from the Minnesota series. He was winning board battles, flying around the offensive zone, drove to the net, cycled well, and made some smart passes.

O'Reilly looked solid, looks like he just needs to get used to Tarasenko's tendencies.

Pat did not impress and he should not be on that first line. Fabbri really needs to not be made of glass and come back because I fear they will soon put Steen on the top line thus ruining our third line and having Steen playing top line minutes again which needs to not happen because I thought he looked great on the third line with Bozak and Perron.

Dunn left a lot to be desired. Some boneheaded outlet passes.

JBo has his speed back but looks like he has some rust to shake off or maybe he's just declined that much, who knows yet.

Pietrangelo, Parayko, and Schmaltz all had good games. Schmaltz definitely looked really good this game, let's hope he can keep it up because having his passing and offensive skills will be an upgrade over Borts.

How the f*** is Chris Butler playing in the NHL? I still remember my report in 14-15 camp where I reported he looked like the worst player on the ice and proceeded to call him Chris Butthole. I don't know if he literally begs and cries to management to just give him "one more shot" each time and he brings nothing, EVERY TIME.

EDIT: Also wanted to say that Berglund looked decent tonight. It seems like he worked really hard in the offseason and dropped some pounds and maybe even some height? Either way it has definitely improved his speed and it seems like he's turned more into a pass first type of guy now. But of course he still had his lapses during the game, but overall I was happy with his performance.

One of the criticism's that Allen constantly got last season was that the team quit on him because they had no faith in him once he let in a soft goal. I'm not saying you are one of those guys, but, if that is true, do you think that it might be the same way the other way around? I personally don't. I think it is more of a team thing.

Honest question, what do you think is going through Jake's mind during a game?

“Shit...we’re one down. It’s ok Snake, it’s ok...keep your shit together and focus. We can’t afford to be down by two...

OH GODDAMN IT...sorry boys, that one was on me! A two goal deficit is manageable...

Come on snakey-boy, you can do this. Gotta lock’er down. No more missteps...every shot is crucial. No time for lapses when you’re trying...

MOTHER-f***ER...come on Dunn, what the f*** are you thinking? You got shit for brains or what? Not my fault. That third goal is NOT MY FAULT!
Wait, wait Snake...we talked about this. You can’t get rattled. Rattled? Rattlesnake? Hahaha...good one Jake, good one. That’s what we need...relax. Deep breath...let the anger go...time to focus. Concentrate.

Please God...don’t let the next shot be a difficult one. And by difficult, I mean ‘on-net’. Oh no. Here they come again. Eyes closed, Snake...eyes closed. It will be over soon...”

That’s how I imagine it anyway.

Outshot the Jets 42-25

My takeaways from the game:
1. Arena renovations look nice.
2. The “Kid” 4th Line and TOM (Tarasenko, O’Reilly, Maroon) line looked great.
3. Allen looked solid
4. Perron didn’t take any offensive zone penalty.

Overall minus the score, the team looked good minus a few kinks. Hellebuyck had a hell of a game, and honestly I think if we had scored on one of those two early posts or didn’t give up the SH breakaway we aren’t looking a 5-1 loss tonight.

Rant of the night: To the fans that sarcastically cheered Allen's saves in the 3rd. You don’t have to like Allen but come on you have a deflection off Parayko, breakaway, and a 2 on 0 essentially from the Blue line on the first three goals. This game is not solely on his head.
