I hate to keep ragging on this kid, but it's to the point of being comical now.

Cam Ward - Out 6-8 weeks with knee injury
Brian Boucher - Shoulder injury took him out for 6 months, then traded away
Dan Ellis - Desperation signing when the backup spot was empty, became the emergency starter, now injured for 1-2 weeks
Mike Murphy - Split for the KHL, washed out and didn't have a job for months, now an emergency signing in Charlotte
Justin Peters - Wasn't even guaranteed a spot in the AHL until Murphy left, now the NHL starter
John Muse - Expected to be the ECHL starter, now the first option as NHL backup
Rob Madore - Undrafted college grad who just became an AHL starter by default


Andersen would have been absolutely gift-wrapped NHL games right now if he had just stayed put. There is literally NO competition in the Hurricanes system at this point.

doubt it. hiller's still our #1 right now. we wouldn't move him unless fasth starts in the PO's.

I would be surprised to see Anaheim enter the 2013-14 season with 7.5 million split between two goaltenders. Especially when you factor in the raises to Perry, Getzlaf and Fowler.

If it weren't for Gibson knocking on the door, I'd say it's likely Andersen gets some time this year. Both of our goalies seem to run in the injury issues. If Andersen outplays Gibson this season, I don't see why he wouldn't get some time.

I'm actually very interested to see what Andersen can do at the NHL level. His numbers were spectacular this season in the AHL, but when you watch him, you're left underwhelmed with his tools. Curious to see how well he'd do in the NHL.
