Fala!!
Depends... Did you praise Gainey a lot when he was our GM?
Bob spent most of his time as "2nd best" for all the big name on the UFAs market when he was our GM.
Well at least Gainey tried MB did what? Oh yeah the easy trade lol

Please tell me how a GM can just make it happen?
Lebrun said he took less money... So it's not a money issue
Did he have to sell him on the city and the franchise? Don't think either of those are secrets...
Maybe Williams chose the option he felt was right for him and his family?
A gm can't force a player by gun point. So don't make such asinine blanket statements about 'gettin r done'.
I think it's a reality though. If you're good and have a good success rate you can fail many times but you'll eventually win.
In the case of bergevin, we're looking for that UFA win but he's had 2 off-seasons and this will be his 3rd which just started.
At least 2 of Kunitz, Perron, and Hormqvist will be moved, given the Penguins' cap issues.
I'd stay far away from Sharp: 6.8 million dollar cap hit for two years of very limited production, plus he'll cost us draft picks and/or prospects.
He's actually been a GM for 3 years(started may 2012) and his first season had a roster freeze due to lock out so he didn't have an off-season in 2012.
He had off-seasons in 2013 and 2014.
2015 off-season has practically just started.
Dude he tried on two top UFAs give him until October.

Four off seasons. The lockout shortened counts no matter how you spin it

There are multiple reasons players wouldn't sign here;I think it's a reality though. If you're good and have a good success rate you can fail many times but you'll eventually win.

after 4 years, "trying" shouldn't be considered good enough... not if excellence is what the organization is after.
trying is for little league.
yes
and yes.
admittedly i'm being a bit harsh. No bad moves today at all, quite the opposite, all of the look to be low-risk/high reward. Not unlike the vast majority of his moves (especially if we remove the MT factor, which has enhanced some of the risk by virtue of poorly deploying the players MB brought in) thus far...
but in taking over 4 off-seasons ago, you'd have hoped he had a plan to address the holes in the roster he inherited, which were actually quite small. his continuous tinkering hasn't improved the talent present in our key areas (top-4/top-6), that reality = fast-diminishing benifit of the doubt.
Opening day 2015, if we're still testing out projects in our top-6, with DD being one of the anchors, then can we agree that he is not doing a good enough job?
And overpaying for the sake of signing somebody is bush league. That's why he's the GM and you're not.
Uhm no.
2012 off-season was a lockout. There was a trade freeze.
2013 off-season, yes
2014 off-season, yes
2015 off-season, it just started...

Lebrun:
Montreal was among the teams also in the mix near the end of the day on Justin Williams... Habs can be patient, other guys out there
