It's a low risk, high reward contract for them. He's the best 2nd line center they've had in a while.

I don't think he's going to really solve their problems but he's an upgrade compared to what they had last year (granted that's not saying a whole lot). It was a pretty responsible deal which was a rarity today so I don't see many downsides to it honestly.

not sure what the conversation was with some of these backups that were on the market. I said it a month or more ago. It is going to be difficult to move Vinny and or Grossmann unless the Flyers add something. if they refuse to retain salary or add something both players will be here and the Flyers will be in Cap hell. again.

If it came down to it, I would be willing to trade picks to move them as long as we don't trade a 1st or retain salary

If you think about it the Caps roster is pretty ****** and young with cheap or controlled contracts outside of Ovechkin/Backstrom. So it would make sense that they have space.

i honestly don't know, it could of been a blessing in disguise with the contracts i saw offered today. The flyers will be on the lower end of the league for about 2/3 years, hextall wants to build through the draft and that takes time. Flyer fans including myself tend not to have that patience. but we will see
