I can't imagine Hartman couldn't have been been signed for 3 years with a cap hit not much higher than Pitlick's.... I don't understand this at all. This solidified the Simmonds trade as useless.

I bet Hartman gets at least double what Pitlick is making.

He has arbitration rights, and has scored 88 points in 237 games the past three seasons. That's 30 points per 82 games.

Crank up the hysteria to the next level.

They basically got a very similar production player for about half of what Hartman is probably asking for. It's a cap move and one that doesn't hurt the team.

After dumping Hagg, the cap shouldn't be a problem unless the other RFA asks are unreasonable.
