Mod edit:

Dallas trades winger Tyler Pitlick to Flyers for Ryan Hartman, who the Stars have thrown punches at before

The Stars swapped forwards on Monday afternoon, sending winger Tyler Pitlick to Philadelphia for Ryan Hartman.

Hartman is a 24-year-old restricted free agent who scored 12 goals in 83 games last season for the Predators and the Flyers. Hartman was a first-round draft pick in 2013 and is known as an agitator on the ice with 70-plus penalty minutes in each of the last three seasons.

The Stars will be Hartman's fourth team in the last 16 months. He was traded from Chicago to Nashville at the trade deadline in 2018 for a package that included a first-round pick. At the trade deadline in February, Nashville dealt him to Philadelphia to acquire Wayne Simmonds.

Pitlick had one year remaining on his contract that carried a $1 million cap hit and is coming off a season interrupted by wrist surgery that sidelined him for two months as the Stars chased a playoff spot. He was primarily a defensive forward who played on Dallas' shutdown line with Radek Faksa.

Ahhhh, some boring hockey is the way we’re going. This guy would’ve been Hakstol go to in any situation if Hal were still here.

Fletcher is starting to get on my annoying list now. Hartman must’ve been asking for a lot of money.

That Hartman trade with Nashville was bleh to begin with, though people wanted to die on that hill that he was traded for a 1st rounder the year before. And almost 20 goals once! At least Fletcher didn't compound it giving Hartman a 2-3 year deal at $2-3 mil or whatever he probably wanted. But he also hamstrung himself so he couldn't even if he wanted.

But, as was said above, glad we didn't get any liquid assets in that Simmonds trade. And it was more than a 5th rounder, unless you're naive. You just shake your head about their necessity to get less value to a current roster piece. Now, we have a player who ideally is a 12/13 forward. Whatever.

He's a RH center who can probably swing out to RW, plays the PK, only costs $1M so you can send him down and bring up Rubtsov with no cap hit.

He had wrist surgery last year, but was pretty solid the year before. 26 ES points in a 4th line role.
Kind of depth that can help you, then be sent to the pressbox or LHV as the kids progress.

Guy is a bit injury prone over the years.

Not thrilled with this. I would've liked to see Hartman with Laughton and Raffl on our 4th line. But I guess he priced himself out?
