I’m no fan of Christian Folin...but there is no justifiable reason to take him out of the lineup in favor of MacDonald right now. Zero.

The coach said MacDonald is ready to make an “impact.” Anyone think that it'll actually be a positive impact?

Those percentiles for MacDonald are absolutely insane. Unless the "coach" meant negative impact, saying "Mac is ready to make an impact" is brainless

For a team with an above-average coach, it's shocking to see them below average or worse in every notable category sans GF/60 where they are merely a tick above average thanks to a SH% approaching 10%.

Heading for the fourth season of being a below average NHL team in terms of 5v5 scoring... still using pretty much the same 5v5 OZ system.

Oh my god those heatmaps should be hanging in the locker room instead of that stupid "we dont care who you are" sign. Its unbeliavable how much we are willingly and by design trying to be different compared to the best teams

There's a reason Hextall signed JVR, Flyers simply don't have players who can play in the slot or in front of the goal.

Simmonds has really deteriorated, Patrick is a work in progress, and Couts is struggling with his knee.
Who else? Lindblom might have potential. Lehtera can do it if he can get there in time.
Forget about Giroux, Weal, TK, Voracek, Laughton, Weise (no hands), Knight.

You need size, strong hands and a quick, accurate release because the windows are so small.

Why do you refuse to understand that this is by design? When Hakstol was hired there was a video interview where he explicitly stated that this was the offense they were going to play. They've played it for years.

JVR won't make a difference. The longer he is here and the longer he is indoctrinated into Hakstol's scheme, the more he will be a perimeter guy too, and JVR is the kind of guy who would LOVE that. In fact, maybe that's why he was pumped to come here, to have a coach that isn't hounding him to go to the hard places.

Jordan Weal actually does well at getting to the net at least from the eye test, but yeah the slot and in front of the crease has been barren this year

Weal will go to the top of the slot or the edge of the net, but avoids "dirty areas" for obvious reasons.
TK is brave, but probably a few years away from being strong enough to maintain position in those areas.

We see other teams, especially the big West Coast teams, park players in front of our net, knowing we lack big physical D-man who can exact a toll.
