Nutivaara's contract puts him in something of an awkward spot for a lot of potential trade partners right now. He's overpaid to be a 3rd pairing Dman. But how many teams would be comfortable acquiring him as a full time 2nd pairing guy?

Ottawa would've been an option for sure. He's a good defensemen compared to what we have and he would've been given opportunity to show what he can do.

At that price I would've tried to get him depending on who else might be available.

This trade makes zero sense unless the CBJ are just trying to decrease salary. I just wish they could have gotten a draft pick instead of a guy that will probably never played for the CBJ.
