:flyers ACQUIRE TERAVAINEN AND LEDDY

The Philadelphia Flyers have traded forward Sean Couturier to the Chicago Blackhawks for forward Teuvo Teravainen and defenseman Nick Leddy.

"This move may come as a surprise to some people. We are very high on Teravainen and we believe he has top line potential. He will follow the same path than players like Seguin and Galchenyuk did before him and start his NHL career on the wing. We consider that he has more offensive potential than Couturier and the fact that we have Laughton to replace him as a defensive center made our decision easier. We are also happy to add Leddy to our defense group. He is still young and he has top 4 upsides.
We would like to wish Couturier all the best in Chicago."

Hawks confirm this deal and believe Couturier is the soluton for #2C hole

Teravainen is a tremendous talent but Hawks need a more polished NHL #2C option now. TT will almost certainly become a star in Philly

As for Leddy ,, With Clendening ready in AHL to assume similiar role it was time to move on

Briere's Back!

The Buffalo Sabres have re-acquired an old friend, picking up Danny Briere from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for forward Trent Kaleta ad a conditional 2015 pick (5th if Briere scores 20g, otherwise a 7th)

"Dan was always a fan favourite in Buffalo, and we know SAbres fans will embrace him back. The leadershp and knowledge he can share with the kids during the rebuild will more than pay for itself"

Rangers Acquire Pavelski

joe.pavelski.jpg

The New York Rangers have made a move to tweak the team that made it all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals last season, adding 40 goal scorer Joe Pavelski from the San Jose Sharks. Also coming back to the Rangers in the deal was defenseman Matt Irwin and the Sharks 2015 3rd round draft pick.

Going back to the Sharks was forward Derek Stepan, defensemen John Moore and Dylan McIlrath, and the Rangers 2014 2nd round pick.

"We are very pleased to add Joe and Matt to our line-up. Joe will take over Derek's role as the second line centre between Chris Krieder and Rick Nash. Matt will assume the fifth defenseman position alongside Kevin Klein. We would like to wish Derek, John and Dylan all the best in San Jose."

:flames are still looking to make some moves.

Looking for a Top 4 RH d-man? We've got Dennis Wideman!
Looking for a Top 6 forward? Jiri Hudler, and (potentially) Mikael Backlund are available!
Need more depth in the bottom 6? No worries, we have Paul Byron, Joe Colborne, David Jones and TJ Galiardi.

We're strongly considering moving Sven Baertschi in a package for an established young RH d-man. We're also in the market for more 1st rounders, a starting goaltender and a couple of top 6 right-wingers. Pick #17, #34 and some prospects could also be moved in the right deal

Lots of rumbling coming out of Pittsburgh, GM Donut is going hard at the phones looking to add some solid wingers. A new era could possible begin in Pittsburgh as soon as tomorrow. Details to follow.

The first of many....

The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired Kris Versteeg from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a 2nd Rd draft pick in the 2016 draft. The Penguins are thrilled to add Versteeg into our top-9, especially with his beautiful cap of only $2.2M. Kris is good with the puck and has a nose for the net which is exactly what we are looking for from our wingers. We thank GM Blackhawkswincup for the quick and easy negotiations

:cbj willing to retain up to $1.6M of Umbergers cap hit in a deal, however the more I retain the more the asking price will be but at $3M he could be a very useful piece.

Tyutin OTB for RHD, RW either prospects or young NHLers (nothing over 30 years old) or 1st rounder.

In addition to moving Eric Brewer for a pick/prospect (I'd like the cap space), we are also looking to swap two of Teddy Purcell/Brett Connolly/Richard Panik in a deal for a RD, quality 3rd line center, or a similarly valued LW. Several other pieces remain available.

Hawks confirm

The 2nd time around with Hawks wasn't as successful as both Kris and Hawks wanted. It was in best interest to open roster spot for some of our kids and give Steeger a chance to contend elsewhere

Rozsival (2.2M cap hit) - Vet right hander

Panthers Move Down; Trade 1st Overall Pick

The Florida Panthers have traded the 1st overall selection in the upcoming Entry Draft, along with defenceman Ed Jovonovski, to the Vancouver Canucks.

In exchange, the Panthers receive the 6th overall selection, as well as the 36th overall, and solid defenceman Chris Tanev.
