Confirm this deal. We needed to shed some salary, but we feel we got some quality pieces coming back. Al Montoya will slip in behind Quick, and potentially be our goalie of the future. Kabanov is enigmatic, but we really needed some skill on the LW in our pipeline. And the 5th overall should net us either a good forward or defenseman in this draft, and it is nice getting back into the 1st round.

Movin' on Up - Leafs acquire 1st Overall Pick

The Toronto Maple Leafs made a huge move towards establishing the long-term success of their franchise today by acquiring the 1st overall selection in the upcoming NHL Entry draft from the Edmonton Oilers.

"Anytime you have the chance to make a move to 1st overall, you have to seriously consider it." Leafs GM TribalPhoenix stated today in a press conference at the Real Sports Bar and Grill.

"By doing this, we are catapulting ourself into a position to land a potential franchise player, and add to our impressive young core of prospects. While we haven't made a clear decision of who we will pick, we have it down to 3 possible names, and in the coming days we will come to a formal conclusion."

Going to Edmonton is a package of solid talent, as prospects Joe Colborne and Jake Gardiner, as well as Philadelphia's 1st round selection (29th Overall), head to the Blue and Gold.
