:bruins BOGOSIAN HEADING TO BOSTON

The Boston Bruins have traded forward Tyler Seguin and defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk to the Atlanta Thrashers for defenseman Zach Bogosian, forward Patrice Cormier and Atlanta 2012 4th round pick.

While it was very difficult to let a young franchise player like Tyler go, we feel that we got another young franchise player in Zach Bogosian. This trade was all about needs for both teams. Zach will be a perfect fit with our team and we are confident that he will learn a lot from Zdeno Chara. Patrice was also an important part of the trade since we like his poise and potential. He had chemistry in the past with other young guys in the system like Jordan Caron and Philippe Cornet. Patrice will get the chance to win a spot at the training camp and we expect him to have a major role in Providence next season if he is not able to make the big team right away. We would like to wish the best of luck to Tyler and Andrew in Atlanta.

Anaheim, CA The Anaheim Ducks agreed to a trade with the Edmonton Oilers that sends skilled winger Ales Hemsky to Anaheim in exchange for young defenseman Luca Sbisa, and forward prospects Devante Smith-Pelley and Nick Bonino. Anaheim also receives Edmonton's 3rd round pick in the 2011 entry draft.

Alright. I'm heading off to bed soon. Probably won't be on for a while tomorrow due to driving time to Seattle. I guess IR can have the other team post the deal or do it himself when he decides to respond. Makes no difference to me.

Sean Avery

We were sick of Avery's bullsh*t and Torts hates him anyway. We also felt that Francois will have a chance to earn a Top 6 role in New York, something he wasn't afforded in Washington.

I've been out all night, but Montreal has a deal to announce.

GOODBYE MONEYBAGS
scott-gomez.jpg

The Montreal Canadiens have dealt overpaid giveaway specialist Scott Gomez to the Nashville Predators for hometown boy J.P. Dumont.

"Gomez was underperforming in Montreal, and being payed over 7 million dollars, we couldn't afford to have that." Said GM habsman56, "We're very pleased to welcome JP Dumont to the team. We think he'll be a strong piece of our team."

Dumont has 1 more season at $4,000,000. Gomez has 3 more seasons at $7,357,143.

:ducks are calling it a night.

Looking to trade Beauchemin for a younger forward or a defenseman of similar calibre. Sutton will go for anything.

My 1st, 2nd rounders are available. All prospects are available (Holland, Etem, Palmieri may be traded in a package only if I'm getting a top defenseman or good center back). Sexton and Chipchura can be had as well.

Our primary needs are top 4 defensemen and a good #2 center (ie: better than Koivu). Speedy young wingers are also of interest.

AVS SEND STATSNY TO JACKETS FOR BRASSARD AND MORE

Despite reports they would hold onto the talented Centre, Colorado shipped Paul to Columbus for Centre Derek Brassard, Winger Nikita Filatov, and the 8th Overall Pick in the 2011 Draft

"We feel Matt Duchene has been progressing well. Our confdence in his potential, as well as getting a talented C in Brassard back, made this deal possible."

With THREE picks now in the Top 11 (#2, #8, #11), Colorado is not done dealing. A strong D-man and a Goalie are still high on the priority list, as well as moving up or down or stocking up on 2012 picks

Confirm. Giving up Brassard, Filatov, and #8 overall is a **** ton, for one player, but it is time for Columbus to start contending. Filatov and Murphy/Hamilton/Strome have great potential but Statsny is a 25 year old #1 center. He and Rick Nash will be the backbone of our first line for the next decade. It is difficult to give up Derek Brassard, but we lose very little in the way of youth, and have Vermette as a long term #2 center. Meanwhile, Ryan Johansen will give us a dynamic 1-2 punch in a few years. Filatov is a major loss, but Rick Nash has our first line wing spot long term, and Calvert, Voracek, Mayorov, and Umberger, will adequately fill out the rest of the top 6. It hurts to lose a high pick, but as good as Hamilton and Murphy are, we feel that our defensive core is pretty solid.

Confirmed. It's time to take a different approach in Edmonton. In past years we've tried to bring our younger players along but in many cases have stymied their growth by plugging in veterans that have impeded the youngsters progress. Ales certainly does not fit that veteran that was plugged in, but we've moved him and acquired three very good young players.

Sbisa steps right onto our blueline after progressing well in the Anaheim system. Smith-Pelley is a guy we've had our eye on for some time. He's gritty, he's physical, not afraid to lay the body on, and has shown a tremendous scoring touch. And in Bonino we think we are getting a youngster with good size at the center position, who has potential as a two-way forward, and who excels in the playmaker role.

We wish Ales the best and thank him for his years of service here.

:nashville confirms.

"JP Dumont was being paid $4 million dollars to play on the 4th line or be a healthy scratch. We understand Gomez has a bad contract but at least Gomez is capable of playing decent hockey. We feel getting away from the spotlight in Montreal and going to a smaller hockey market will be great for his game."

We're still shopping these guys:

Ryan Smyth (veteran leadership and goal-scoring ability still, will only waive his NMC to go to a contender, or a place he has history with cough Edmonton cough)
Dustin Penner (a goal-scoring power forward, who had a bit of a tough stretch here in LA, a fresh start will do him good.)
Oscar Moller (A tweener who can't crack our top-6, stills holds good value and could have untapped scoring potential.)
Jonathan Bernier (One of the best young goalies in the league might need a new home, could be packaged for a #2 center)
Matt Greene (Hard-hitting, tough-nosed defenseman, leadership, "intangibles")

Looking for:
-Cheap, young contracts
-Players with speed and PP ability
-#2 center

:bruins HEATLEY A BRUIN!

The Boston Bruins have traded goaltender Tim Thomas and forward Zach Hamill to the San Jose Sharks for forward Dany Heatley and goaltender Antero Niittymaki.

Tim was a great player for us and he is among the best in the NHL at his position. Given his age and the emergence of young goaltender Tuuka Rask, a trade was the best option for Tim and for us. We are thrilled to add a forward of Dany’s caliber. He will play on our 1st line with Patrice Bergeron and Shane Doan and we expect big things from those guys. We believe that Antero will be the perfect backup for Tuuka. Coming from the same country and being in our eyes the best backup in the NHL, Antero should get a fair amount of games next season and he will be a solid mentor for our young goaltender.
