Hoping he can get professional help, agree to pay out 90% of his current salary to forgive debts. After that sign a few more years and make a few million + NHL pension.

However I doubt this guy has any common sense left

Not to mention he just had like the best season of his career, so what is he doing, betting on his team to win and playing hard? Lmao
If he was betting on the Sharks he has a bigger problem than everyone thought:laugh:

But seriously, players have far more inside info on their teammates and other players than the general public. Now obviously Kane is not a good gambler. But it's the precedent it sets. You cant have pro sports players influenced but outside factors, that would effect the integrity of the game. Not to mention most importantly it would cost the sports bookers money, won't some please think of the poor Casinos!!!! The NHL cant be costing their most lucrative partners money.

On topic... Euro enthusiasts often get ruffled when I say the big rink is a different game and doesnt always translate into the NHL ice, it goes the other way as well. Kane's game is build around speed, physicality and taking away time and space from the opponents. It doesnt translate as well to the more positional game of the big ice.

Realistically, my best guess is that Russia is not a safe haven from organized crime.

Most bookies are pretty local or are connected to the 80s money nowadays. It's all pretty disconnected from Russia/Italy, they aren't likely to have connections to Russia anymore. Ever hear the joke 'Im harder to find in Reno than it would be to find me in China'.

Maybe I'm missing something but it seems pretty clear cut that he'll be found innocent and continue to play for the Sharks, or he'll be found guilty and banned from the league...

Lmao I don’t think a multi millionaire superstar hockey player needs to turn his life around.
Man, you have NOT been paying attention to him.

Edit: For context, I am confident that ever single poster on HF boards is, right now anyway, more wealthy than Evander Kane. Obviously that might change after his bankruptcy, but right now he's broke, LOL

Everywhere he’s played controversy follows as far as team issues go.
Personal issues aside he needs to grow up.
He’s always the victim and it’s always something.
What a waste of talent at the end of the day.
He’s a good player and the effort always seems to be there.
I hope this situation can be turned around but that’s entirely on him.

As a hockey player, he’s such a valuable commodity in the league. . A guy who has the skill to score, hit and fight for his mates is so rare nowadays. . If he could just stay on the straight and narrow, he’d have the world in the palm of his hand

Its such a waste to see someone throw away their own gifts . . And in this case, drag his family down w him. . Really just sad more than anything

One word. Equity. Sure his liability may exceed his assets but he could borrow and sell then be in a better position or declare bankruptcy.

Some extremely misinformed statements in this thread. First, casinos can easily query their R&S or CRM DB to see if Evander or his wife placed any bets so this should easily be verified. Second, she is a soon to be ex-wife so I don’t really need to point out the obvious here. Third, Kane is still very much an NHL player.

Several Sharks teammates don't want Evander Kane back on the team: Sources

Several of Evander Kane's teammates don't want the Sharks winger to return to the team next season, sources tell The Athletic.
The team was trying to trade Kane earlier this summer, a source says, confirming a report from the Daily Faceoff. A big part of the reason for the team to pursue a deal was Kane's strained relationship with many of his teammates, according to several sources.

That's kind of what he's doing.

Jack Johnson tried to get out of debts by claiming his parents signed a bunch of stuff he didn't agree with to give him a better negotiating position in bankruptcy when coming up with a settlement.
Kane is trying to get out with some different arguments, regardless, this likely ends up in some sort of settlement
Jack Johnson "claimed" his parents did that? Where have you read anything to the contrary?

This has Chris Drury written all over it, hopefully San Jose buys him out & we can sign him for cheap
Why? So he can be a horrid influence on the younger players and be a cancer in the locker room?
Kane is a legitimate piece of human garbage.

There was quite a bit of back and forth as to what he had agreed with.

It wasnt really debated that his parents had power of attorney, had bought stuff of his behalf, and entered into terrible deals/loans. There was just significant dispute that he hadnt agreed to all of it though.
