26M in debt and now investigated about betting on his own games. He is still a serviceable player and I think he could still earn a decent paycheck somewhere. I doubt that KHL-players in Russia will have their paychecks reduced by debts to US casinos? Is this Kanes only option?

Last time he was in the KHL they terminated his contract after 12 games because he was so bad.

Not sure about his personality, though. Discipline is much tighter in the KHL, than NHL. And if he's really a gambler, why do KHL clubs take him? Just to help another American refugee? He isn't Snowden after all.

He had 32 goals and 72 point pace, Kane is an NHL player and a very good one. He essentially was on pace to hit career highs, how many points could he score if he wasn't throwing games? I highly doubt anything comes out of these accusations in form of suspension or termination of contract.

Even if found guilty the NHLPA will say gambling addiction should be treated as a mental health issue, he'll be forced to go to counseling or whatever and be back immediately.

That's not at all how that works.

Lol even without "throwing games away" I would not want my team to touch him with a 50 feet pole.
To put it mildly, he seems like a very shitty human being to begin with.

NHL GMs (especially in recent days) have made it clear they don't particularly care about how shitty of a person you are. If you can play hockey at a high enough level, someone will pick you up.

Without proof of said gambling on hockey, Kane will be playing for the Sharks.
