So 95% of the fans were great, but he wanted out because of 5%?

Lol, it's going to be a tough life if he is always worried about not getting 100% approval.
He does better than I do. If I meet 100 people and only 5 of them are idiots in one way or another that would be the life!

There is no way around the math, half of the people in the world are below average intelligence.

The first two years the Jets were back I worked at the Apple store at Polo Park and this douche came in on occasion to purchase stuff and every time I saw him he had a entourage of douche bags with him and would walk in like he owned the place and expected VIP service as everyone else were peasants compared to his self proclaimed royalty. The day this cancer was traded was one of the best days in Jets 2.0 history.

I see why 'Clarifies' is in quotes in the thread title. Clear as mud. He works really hard to avoid admitting that he was in the wrong with his track suit or whatever the hell he is wearing. Just own it, Evander. Yeah, we get that you wanted out. But you were wrong on track suit day and everyone on the team knows it too.

I think that was because she was clearly ignorant to the story, probably him and hockey. She didn’t seem to have a clue. But she sure is pretty.

She's a great reporter.

Generally, hosts/interviewers don't do the research for content like this. It's likely someone else dropped the ball here.

(Though maybe the question could have been written better than "something about warm-ups...?")

Why do you keep talking about "brands?" Kane wasn't creating a brand for himself. He was being himself. He's a douchebag. The reason he got treated negatively almost immediately upon arriving here was because that's how long it took before people he was dealing with personally realized the truth about him. He got as fair a shake as he deserved. And even still, he had lots and lots of defenders in his corner right up until track suit day.

His brand and who he is are one and the same. He trys to portray himself as something he isn't then people will see through it.

I want more clarification on all the restaurant, bar, traffic violation, and gambling tabs that he's tried to skip out on.

This ***** actually had to have his salary garnished ( while getting paid $4,500,000 ) to cover a $650 traffic ticket. He said he just forgot to pay it. BS. Before you get your wages garnished you do get a few warnings. Just like he's forgetting to pay a casino $500,000.

> "Come on Evander, you owe us half a million dollars."
>> "What half-million?"
> *produces signed marker slips*
>> "...."
> *cues video footage of five transactions of 100k each*
>> ".. Oh.. that half-million."

Also, just going to leave this here:

Yeah the Kane brand-building in Winnipeg didn't go well... But the media here were very quick to pile on him as well - Lawless led that charge, IIRC. I mean, you hear the kind of **** that the media politely and obediently sweeps under the rug when it comes to coaches or some players, but this brash 21-year old gets zero benefit of the doubt? I mean, yes, the guy is a me-first *****e, and he committed the cardinal sin of hating Winnipeg, so Winnipeg hates him back, but he didn't get a totally fair shake here.
I 100% agree that the local media made huge effort to frame Kane in a bad light any place they could. Theres no doubt in my mind that was a contributing factor to how Kane was perceived by fans very early into 2.0. Eventually his arrogance was pretty obvious to everybody, but I'm not sure opinion pieces about hair, or being different, or whatever was out there was really necessary yet.

I'm not sure why this is so controversial to point out. It doesnt excuse Kane for any of his piles of legit crap. Media bias is media bias, doesnt go away because you agree with it.

no, something didn't rub him the wrong way here. He did the rubbing. He was the asshole...nothing was done to Kane. He acted like an ass and people (team mates included) responded to him the way you respond to assholes.

Sorry, but I don't buy it. And it does sound like an attempt to excuse him and to place blame outside of him. He's been the same everywhere he's gone. The media didn't decide he was a jerk and set out to frame him. He was a jerk and the stories got out in the media.

Part of the past, don't care if he liked his time playing for Jets or not.

The best thing he ever did for us was to get traded for a giant burlap sack full of loot. Like, the kind that would have "$$$" stencilled on the outside. Like in a Bugs Bunny cartoon. Chevy cleaning up at his first GM's Friday Night Poker Game was a sight to behold.

Who?

All by himself this guy is 7 of the 10 biggest bags of douche that have ever set foot in the is city.

Still the best move we've ever made getting rid of this pile of dreck.

Some people never grow up. Kind of a shame, you just know this won't end well. Had a guy like this in Pgh, AB. All the talent in the world, but bent on self-destruction. The really ugly thing is invariably these guys surround themselves with hanging on-ers, who encourage the bad behavior and suck them dry. Pity.
