If they go with Elk as the name (should be Elks, but oh well), they should have an alternate bucket with antlers on it like the Philadelphia Eagles wing decals.

Somebody has already been playing around..woke in progress. I mean work..

Will they even let fans on the bus with Elk antlers on? ;)

That's not even my concern. Someone coming in with an Elk call which is WAY more annoying is what I am worried about. **** the Elk. If they go with any name other than Eagles or Elkhounds, I won't be cheering for the name anymore. Better off just screaming let's go Esks and move on.

Looking at the revised roster this morning I see QB's listed as:

-Harris
-Briscoe
-Cornelius
-Williams

No sign of Kilgore and of course Pipkin jumped ship.

I wonder if this is the year that our "QB of the future", Briscoe, gets some snaps?

Still wondering why the Eskimos re-upped three import linemen, Colin Kelly, Sir Vincent Rogers (age 34), Tommy Draheim, signed Derick Dennis another import veteran (all 4 of them over age 30) and yet didn't sign Matt O'Donnell --one of the best Canadian lineman in the league?

Wish list-- at Commonwealth stadium, there are 60,000 fans in the stands and all of them keep chanting "Eskimos, Eskimos, Eskimos!! for the entire game. When the announcer says "Ladies and Gentlemen, your Edmonton Elk Hounds" he is loudly booed and then security escorts him out.

THAT...I'D LOVE TO SEE ROFL!

Mark Cuban Says He Told Mavericks to Stop Playing National Anthem - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

Thanks--love those fantasies but of course it won't happen.

Meantime, today marks yet another victory for the wokesters.

The Dallas Mavericks owner announced this morning that the team will no longer be playing the national anthem and a few people in basketball circles suggested that the rest of the NBA is going to follow suit. There were many people (not all) who cheered the decision.

For once, I am in agreement with these people because rather than watching the spectacle of some fans/players kneeling just remove it so we don't have to watch this stuff or feel badly for our military veterans. Why add to the anger and frustration that we are all experiencing in these difficult times? I guess at some point you simply accept change and move on.

I've been saying remove the anthems for years. I hope this happens through all professional leagues in North America.

-Looks like safety will be an issue again this year. Stoneman will be thrilled to see Hoover back at that spot.

-Rose and Mincy are locks in the defensive backfield, every other spot is wish us luck.

-2 Canadians, Boateng and Betts holding down the DE position

-I thought Walker and Diggs were the best Eskimo newcomers last year so glad to see them both back at their respective linebacker spots. I know nothing about Brown our new MLB but I know the other guy Walton is highly rated by the Eskimos.

-8 import linemen competing for 2 starting roster spots?

-Earl Edwards returns after all these years to play slotback?

NBA now saying the Mavs will have the national anthem.

You know the funny thing of this whole article is that the Mavs haven't played the national anthem all year. Yet no one said anything.

True but that's largely because no fans were at the games.

I believe that tonight the Mavericks are allowing 1500 people into the game and that's why Cuban played this card today.

I'm amazed that Silver had the balls to tell him to play the anthem. We'll see how it all goes over in Texas. We sure live in interesting times.

Knowing Cuban they won't play the anthem.

This is the guy that got fined for saying f*** and then said if I say it again do I get fined another 15k? Think it all went to charity or something, but he doesn't care too much about paying fines.

Any of those 7 names get picked, and I'm moving on. All of them are ridiculous.

I don't think the Eskimos could have won this fight because it wasn't just the sponsors who went after them and made serious comment about the name change. The list included:

-the trust fund kid in Ottawa.
-the super woke mayor of Edmonton (where did you get this guy?)
-CBC, CTV including major stories on their evening national shows
-Countless "adjunct" (adjunct means contract/part time-can't really find a full time job anywhere) university professors and self proclaimed scholars
-Sports writers/pulitzer prize candidates like Gerry and Keith
-An endless sea of wokesters who haven't left their basements in years and have never watched a CFL game

So at some point a relatively small business entity with limited resources and dwindling revenues really had no choice. How do you take on this many people and still find time to play football and survive?
Good point. I would add the pressure put on the Washington Redskins to change their name definitely added a lot of pressure for Edmonton to do the same.

Hoover was okay, it was that other dude that drove me batty. Neil King, I think it was. Totally useless, but he sure thought he was cool.

Because of their ability to start Canadians on the defensive line, it gives them the option to stack up Americans elsewhere, and it looks like the O-line is the place. Nice situation to have.

As for bringing up Earl Edwards, Bryan Hall asked me to cut you off, but I don't have that power on here.:D

Watch it. Mr. Hall doesn't take no for an answer. Put the family into hiding. :D
