Maybe I am reading this wrong but Capfriendly states:
Gagner: $3.15M (this season) & $3.15M (next season)... Pretty sure earlier it had Gagner a littler over $2.1M-ish x 2 yrs?
Spooner: $2.08M (this season) & $2.03M (next season)... Think this should be around $3M too though?
Gagner: Cap hit, 2 years - $3,150,000, $3,150,000
Gagner: Salary owed, 2 years - $3,500,000, $3,200,000
Spooner: Cap hit, 2 years - $4,000,[email protected]% retained=$3,100,000, $4,000,[email protected]% retained=$3,100,000
Spooner:Salary owed, 2 years - $4,000,[email protected]% retained=$3,100,000, $4,000,[email protected]% retained=$3,100,000
Edmonton takes on (marginally) more caphit and more salary, but get a guy they feel can play in the NHL/is worth trying in the NHL/can add more to their AHL if he doesn't work/moves on from a player that didn't work out there
Vancouver saves (marginally) on cap and pays less salary, and doesn't have to pay a player to play on loan elsewhere
