The Leafs have been going downhill in GA for three straight years and were way worse than the Oilers last year. You have no business thumbing your nose at anyone lol.
if you took a closer look at most defensive metrics, you would see that the Leafs were middle of the pack in most categories this year and improved significantly after Keefe took over.
But let's continue to just use the stat that is heavily influenced by goaltending :dunno:

And the Oilers GA was even better after Jan 1 when they switched to a two line deployment for McDavid Draisaitl.

Was comparable to the Penguins who were top 10 in GA.

Or do only the Leafs get to cherry pick certain metrics?

You can’t call the Oilers defence trash and then cherry pick stats when your team had worse numbers. Don’t take shots when you have no leg to stand on.

More like Babcock costing them every night. Barrie looked good under O'Keefe
For like 5 games, then went back to being pure trash again.

New team, he may go back to his old self -- where he wasn't a total liability in his own end. Regardless it's a low risk move on the Oilers end, and Barrie is going to put up huge points with Edmonton's three good forwards. Good signing.

There's going to be a lot of crow to eat in this thread once the season is done. :biglaugh:

Yeah man. Metrics. Talk about that all you like. Pucks in the net are the only f***ing metric it takes to debunk your foolishness.

Leaving you goalie hung out badly has heavy influence on goaltending.

Do Leafs fans really have any leg to stand on in taking shots at any one else's D? The Oilers were a mile better than the Leafs in GA last year.

GA = D?

Unfortunately our defensemen Freddy Andersen and Michael Hutchinson had pretty rough years.

Barrie is junk. Listen he might score 15 or 20 goals if you put him on the wing where he belongs. Otherwise expect a lot of panicking in your own end.

Or they can shelter him and use him on the PP, they are not pulling a leafs and expecting him to play a huge roll and carry the weight of saving the teams defense. They got a average paid offensive player out of need.
He could suck but it won't be the end of the world like it was in Toronto.

True, luckily there are metrics to measure that. Not to mention, anyone with two eyes could see how bad our goaltending was this year.

There is metrics that kind of measure that but not really. Anyway you had almost identical shots against as the oilers and almost identical 5vrs5 goals against. It looks like a wash.
They even finished with almost identical points. The gap beetween the two teams is almost zero.
