Makes sense for both sides.
Sub 4m is tough so.. A year or so ago there were a few Avs fans (not very bright ones but still) willing to pay Barrie 9M on a longterm deal.
Now he is getting less than 4m for 1 year..
Safe to say he should have taken the Avs extension offers back then but I am really glad he didn't.
Still love him as a person, though. Hope things work out well for him (but not too well considering he is signing with the Oilers) and he can rebuild his value to a point that allows him to get paid next year...
