Yeah that would be ok, but what if it is an Erik Johnson year, as he was a Top pick once upon a time.
I know. I purposely avoided that, lol. So was Chris Philips. I had those names typed and deleted the whole sentence. Now you jinxed us.

We really need our D pick to be capable of more than 3 or 4 goals a season, that's for sure. Knock on wood...

We already have our Hedman in Seider.

But I don't mind if we will have two Hedmans in the future. :naughty:
I wish. Seider isn't there offensively, and you know that. His shot isn't there at all, for a big guy he doesn;t get much flex in the stick.

This video is a year old so maybe there's been improvement:
Moritz Seider practices his shot at Red Wings training camp - YouTube

If there's a newer video or highlight, I'd like to see it....

I will say that I love watching his reverse hits. He's got that going for him.

I don't worry about his shot. Others should be worried about the cross-checks he'll put in in every contact.

Man I like that.

It's insane that 3 likely top 10 picks are on the same team. Especially when you consider it's December in 2 or 3 days and many prospects haven't played a game. There's got to be a player 2 months into a normal OHL/WHL season that'd be garnering top 10 or 15 talk. I think that plays to our advantage in round 2 if nobody is seeing them play. Francesco Pinelli, fall on down? I see Brennan Othmann has gone to Swiss league.

I think that XB has/will have a little bit inflated stats because he plays with Bourque and VP, he's a late bday also, but he's looking like a total beast. There's no way he makes it to round 2.

Nice.

On a serious note, thanks for sharing the update. On first glance, Eklund at #19 stands out to me, especially with his range from #6-45. To me his been the closest thing to a stand-out center this year, and I imagine by draft day he'll be close to a consensus top 10 player. Wouldn't be surprised if he goes top 5. Differentiating Power, Hughes, Lambos, Edvinsson, and Clarke is going to be a headache for scouts. Five impressive blue line prospects, five different styles, five different leagues. I don't envy the GM who has to pick his favorite (although I hope it's Yzerman).

Yep, Eklund has been coming like 13 --> 9 -->6 on latest ranks. Those 45 spots are from last season.

It is hard to put too much stock in any draft list at this point given how little hockey has been played in North America this season to date.

Yep, one list is meaningless. But I merged multiple together, and then there's not "too much stock" in any list.

What was played at 2019-20 will matter as well. In every draft.

I agree his shot is still a bit of a weakness but it's not some hopeless case. He uses his wristshot for the most part but uses it to good effect and gets it on net through traffic.

He doesn't get much flex even on his wristers.

On this shot, no flex and no follow through. His momentum helped get some speed on the puck, but not an NHL level shot, even if it did go in.

He needs a lot of work on his shot, he should be wailing on some pucks in practice, just to get some flex on the stick and some follow through. Not worrying about placement yet. Maybe use a softer flex, and let the stick do the work, I dunno.

William Eklund has been making Alex Holtz look incredible. Great playmaking ability, great puck protection capabilities. The kid is looking like a for sure top 10 pick.

I would agree the shot needs work, don't think it's a major issue at this point in his development since he is getting good results from the shots he's using.

He's playing wing though and will probably stay as such.

The conversation started with Henkka comparing Seider to Hedman. Probably not fair to use an elite player like that as a comparison, but he had 21 pts in 43 games in the SHL in his draft season, and his mechanics were far better.

Pre Draft Video:
Victor Hedman | Victor Hedman Profile | Victor Hedman Scouting Report 2009

The point was he's not close to being Hedman because he has no shot. Go back and read through the posts, that was my comment.

Seider has some things over Hedman at a comparable age, I think stylistically it's still a decent comparison.
