Beastie boys
Brass monkey?
No sleep?
Fight for your right?
Paul rever?
Now that's a tough one. Could be any of those along with So Whatcha Want or Sabotage maybe. My personal favourite is probably Shake Your Rump but it's not as popular as those other songs.

I’m going with Pass the Mic.

They played Brass Monkey at my daughter’s hockey game between periods last weekend, and all these teens got up and started dancing and singing the lyrics.

Thought that was cool kids today still like music we listened to at their age.

Love that song - as soon as I hear the first few notes when it randomly plays on the radio, takes me instantly back to my youth.

Head Over Heels is my favorite from Big Chair though.
It’s not the most iconic but Advice for the Young at Heart is my favorite TFF songs and like a top 3 favorite song period

I don't think you've been right about anything you've said in this thread...

YouTube views mean jack... the Billboard Hot 100 means nothing... you seem to think the single most valuable tool we have in this thread is your own personal recollection of which songs you've heard more times on the radio

Funny from the guy using youtube plays.

Most of your choices have been hilariously off. Iconic doesn't necessarily mean most played on a streaming device.

Yes-Owner Of A Lonely Heart

For Yes, I'd pick "Roundabout". I agree "Owner of a Lonely Heart" got a lot of airplay in the 1980's (it was the band's only #1 single - so I face an uphill battle in making my case), but "Roundabout" is my pick for four reasons:
  1. It's a much better representation of their style (progressive rock vs mainstream pop).
  2. "Roundabout" gets played far more often in concerts ("fan favourite" factor).
  3. Over the past decade or two, "Roundabout" seems to get played more on the radio (so does "I've Seen All Good People").
  4. "Roundabout" was produced by the band's greatest lineup (Squire, Howe, Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman) while "Owner of a Lonely Heart" only has two of those five members (White replacing Bruford, Rabin replacing Howe, and Kaye replacing Wakeman).
What do others think?

Sublime. Santeria? or What i got?

or would you say their iconic song would be off 40z to freedom which put them on the map as it was one of the highest selling independent albums and Smoke two Joints was a pretty popular track.

I only know a few of their songs, but Doin' Time is the one that comes to mind when I think of Sublime...

I know a big Yes fan and I doubt if "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" is in his top 20. That being said, when I made my list I was thinking more of the masses and sort of a psychological band/song association where it was almost the first song that came to mind when I thought of an artist. "Roundabout" is the better choice for even semi-serious fans of the band but "Owner" is quite a bit more well known for casual music fans on the whole.

I would've thought The Joker for Steve Miller and Tom Sawyer for Rush...

And since I've never heard or heard of Creeping Death until today, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's not Metallica's most iconic song

Santeria to me closely followed by Date Rape.

I'm not familiar with many of the bands you listed, but I'd change a few of your choices...

Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Goode
Donovan - Mellow Yellow
Crowded House - Don't Dream It's Over
Oasis - Wonderwall
Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams
U2 - With Or Without You... or possibly One
REM - Losing My Religion
The Beatles - Hey Jude... Let It Be... or Yesterday

And Genesis has quite a few songs I'd put above Carpet Crawlers

And then there are others up for debate...

Radiohead - Creep
Police - Every Breath You Take
Rod Stewart - Forever Young or Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?
Eric Clapton - Tears In Heaven
Bob Marley - Redemption Song... One Love... Jammin'

And The Supremes have quite a few big hits... Can't Hurry Love, You Keep Me Hangin' On, Stop! In The Name Of Love, Baby Love, and as you listed, Where Did Our Love Go... I'd be curious what others think about this one

Same with The Beach Boys... I feel like it would be Good Vibrations, but they have quite a few songs worthy of consideration
