I don’t think he ever puts it together to be a 30-20, or even a 20-20 guy. I think his best bet is to try and become a grinder who can maybe go 15-15 and turn into a PK specialist, kind of like what Frolik did.

But I’m not sure he has the hockey smarts to be a good defensive or PK specialist.
I agree 30-20 is a stretch but if he is put with Cat and Strome next year..how the hell doesn't he hit that lol??

he had 17 goals last year so 20 is in is range, anything over that would be gravy for me. sign him for 2 years at $1mil per and let's see what he can do - drop him down if he doesn't deliver, but give him that 2 year deal like Gus got giving him some comfort in knowing he is here and can loosen up a bit out there. I don't care about giving an extra year when the amount is barely above league minimum...

He’s not smart as Frolik and if Frolik had Perlini’s shot he’d be Hossa light.

Probably not in regards to Frolik. I don’t think he brings the same effort Frolik did consistently to fill that role anyway. I don’t remember Frolik really ever half assing shifts and that’s exactly what you need out of someone to be successful in that role.

Connolly bounced around a bit, but the thing with him is he played on pretty deep teams. Lightning/B's/Caps all pretty deep teams at forward over the past 5=6 years. Perlini was having consistency issues on a thin Yotes team..and I agree the comp could be good if Perlini finds consistency, Connolly is a hard worker that brings it night in and night out - he learned to switch his game around to stay at the NHL level. I don't think Perlini understands that yet to be honest- but I hope he figures it out as he has the shot to be a 20-20 guy on this team bare minimum playing with Strome/Cat.

Yes, I think old Connolly is a good comp to current Perlini.

If Perlini follows the switching his game example Connolly laid out, he could end up making a similar impact.

did anyone else notice who Strome looked "winded" more times than not out there?? like his shifts weren't as long as they should be?? he barely got 15 minutes out there last night but many times I saw him looking gassed out there...wonder if he was sick or fighting something.

Perlini is just going to be maddening to watch, a week stretch where he looks great and 2-3 weeks of invisible play...I think we need to get used to it moving forward.

Yes. I have noticed that since Strome arrived. It appears that he was playing in AZ out of shape and it made his skating seem worse than it is. I hope he gets on a good conditioning program this summer.

As for Perlini, I think you may be right there as well.
I think he has visions of being a top 9 guy but if he is to play on the 4th line here he probably needs to change his game to be better defensively and able to make the most of 4th line ice time. That can be more difficult than it seems.

I still don’t think Strome is in great shape but seems to me like it is getting better. This summer will be big for him.

Perlini reminds me of Ladd with more wheels for some reason.

Remains to be seen if he can become as defensively responsible as Ladd.

I reckon that bar is a tad high for Perlini. I'd rather he become a solid 3rd liner who can contribute on both sides of the puck but with more offensive upside than an Andrew Ladd.

If Colliton keeps this time of lineup going, it’s pretty hard to differentiate between who is a second or third liner. It more comes down to does he compliment Toews, Kane, or DeBrincat the best.
