Pascal Dupuis is probably best known for being Crosby's linemate the past several seasons, but he also spent 6 games as a Ranger in February 2007:

and then a further 79 games with the Thrashers in 2007 and 2008, before being part of the Hossa trade:

That Mike Palmateer one kind of threw me... I'd never heard that he'd gone to the Oilers' training camp in 1985. He was already a year retired then, too.

Actually, he wasn't.

It's widely reported that Palmateer retired after the '83-'84 season, but he actually had another season at a then steep $300,000 per season left on his deal.

When the Maple Leafs opted to go for the youth movement of Allan Bester and Ken Wregget in goal, they instructed Palmateer to stay home and collect his salary.

In late February - with Mike having not been on the ice since the pre-season - the Edmonton Oilers expressed interest in acquiring him. Grant Fuhr had sustained an injury and while Andy Moog was more then capable of picking up the slack, the Oilers would need to call up the underwhelming Mike Zainier to fill in as the back up and instead considered bringing in Palmateer.

They contacted Gerry McNamara, then the Leafs GM, and were told that Palmateer was available but despite paying him to sit at home, they wanted something in return. Fuhr's in jury proved to be less serious than first anticipated and he was set to return in two week. Barry Fraser, than the Oilers Director of Player Personnel felt that Palmateer would need two weeks to get back into game shape and by the time he was, Fuhr would likely be back so the deal was scuttled.

The following season, with Palmateer a free agent, I guess he was invited to Oilers camp, but with his knees a mess and Moog and Fuhr entrenched in the crease, the prospects were not good.

Belfour in San Jose. If my memory is correct, he was pretty horrible in SJ. I thought his career was done after seeing his play in the Sharks.

Someone like Paul Coffey would be a much better choice for Boston. Jagr has played for 8 teams now over the course of his NHL career, it's really not that weird seeing him in any other jersey anymore.

That's a very strange comment considering Paul Coffey played in Edmonton, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, Detroit, Hartford, Philadelphia, Carolina, Chicago and Boston... So nine teams.

...OK I could've picked a better example too, but I feel like those 18 games Coffey at the very end of his career played are much more forgettable than the run to the finals Jagr had with Boston, but maybe that's because it was just three years ago.

And, at least, I always forget about Coffey's time in Boston personally.

John Tonelli, Los Angeles Kings (Fun fact- he actually had a pair of 31-goal seasons for the Kings in '89 and '90)

Hey! Tonelli was awesome with the Kings in 1988-89 and 1989-90. His ice-time and stats started to drop, though, during 1990-91.

Nobody remember this, but as a random: Game one between L.A. and Calgary in April, 1989 goes into overtime. Tonelli slaps one that cleanly beats Vernon... and bounces out, off the inside of the post. A few minutes later, the Flames shoot it in and a lucky bounce off the stanchion goes right to Gilmour who scores into the empty net. Game over, and basically series over. That's the way it goes.
