I hate GettyImages so much, I used to be able to find images of players no problem but they've taken over even pictures of vintage hockey with their stupid label.

The label may be there and annoying, but the GettyImages pictures used to be much smaller and with less definition. At least they're much larger and have better context.

Compare the look of these two Hextall/Quebec pictures. The smaller one used to be the norm, but now the photos are better and cleaner by comparison to make the label less of an issue:

Yes, and that means he was probably teammates for at least some of those 21 games with a very young Mark Messier -- the same Mark Messier that Watson coached in October 1980 (he was Edmonton's coach at the start of their 2nd season).
Jari Kurri, New York Rangers (1995-96; 14 GP, 1 G, 4 A, 5 PTS, 4 PIM)
Jari was getting a bit washed-up when he arrived in New York, but as usual he showed up in the playoffs. He scored twice in the last two wins against Montreal (the eventual game-winner in the final game), and then led the Rangers with 6 points in the 5-game loss to Pittsburgh.

Michael Grabner during his training camp with the Panthers in 2010. He never played a regular season game with the team, being waved and claimed by the Islanders prior to the start of the season.

Great Players... Obscure Teams

So tonight the Maple Leafs go to battle against the Hurricanes, and that reminded me of the time Gary Roberts played for the Hurricanes.

He played there for 3 full seasons, but if you ask someone what team Roberts played with between the Flames and Leafs, you'll likely get some blank stares.

So what other great players have stints with teams that most don't really know about?

Osgood played 103 games with the Islanders between his two stints with the Red Wings.

edit: On that note Hextall also played 65 games for the Islanders in the year following his trade to the Nordiques from the Flyers.
