Gudas - 51.8
Polak - 43.6

Decidedly not the same.
Right, and a prune is decidedly not the same as a rancid burrito but that doesn't really matter when both result in liquid farts. The Leafs don't need either player stinking up the joint, your irrelevant fancy stat be damned.

I think Gudas for Brown + 2nd makes a lot of sense for both teams. Flyers fans were talking about needing a PK specialist on the wing - and Brown excels in that capacity.

Deadline is inconsequential for Gudas, from a Flyers perspeective.. We could hold on to him and get that same offer (likely better) next year when he's a pure rental. I doubt they move him this year, especially since Myers hasnt figured in to the roster yet, unless someone gives a reason to do so, and a 2nd and a 5th isnt a good reason.
What are you expecting? 2 1sts and a 2nd?

Based on the last x number of drafts, what are the chances that a 2nd round pick turns into a reliable 2nd pair defenseman with a career of 500+ games? 1 in 5?

Once Gudas stopped running around like an idiot and getting suspended, he became exactly that type of d-man. He's 28 and has a reasonable contract. The Flyers have young prospects ready but they have other D who can be moved out of the lineup first. I could see trading him, but I just don't see the upside to them trading him for a 2nd round pick, whether fans think that's what he's worth or not.

Except he’s being used as a 3rd pairing guy right now... he’s 5th in ES TOI/game, and has a pretty low QoC. His fancy stats show he could probably play in the top-4, but who knows how they’d react to tougher competition.

You forgot to use the Hakstol idiot filter.

Since Gordon took over, Provy, Sanheim, Ghost and Gudas are playing the most at ES as it should be. AMac and Hagg the least.

Christ, Hakstol used AMac as a top 2 Dman at ES last year. Leafs want him instead? Didn't think so.

In a simulation
I know Eklund's rumors can be whack, but when it comes to the Flyers he's usually on the money so there's probably some stock
This is said all of the time but it is a complete and total myth. He called/broke like one Flyers trade in the history of his website and that was several years ago.

How does what the flyers recieve in the deal make them more likely to make the playoffs?
Next year if the flyers are again out of it we can get a 2nd and 3rd or b prospect. What is the incentive to deal gudas now?
He is movable as most fans believe we have the internal pieces to replace him and isn't in the long term plans but he is not necessarily on the block unless it also involves pueces the other team doesn't want to move

Space for Myers and/or Morin to play and cap space in the offseason to use.

I would offer that for sure. I’d toss in a prospect like Timashov as well if that was a deal breaker

I'd really rather just hang on to Gudas. Like, I don't want to trade him. I'd even be interested in re-signing him. We're not hurting for cap space at the moment and there are two other guys Myers and Morin can take the spots of.

Provorov Ghost
Sanheim Gudas
Morin Myers

It's....beautiful.

Also, this is classic Dwayne Keith Klessel. Take something that's been widely speculated from about a billion different sources (including multiple threads on this very board) and then somehow try to claim it as your own.

I'm sure Pajama Boy would LOVE to share a locker room with Gudas.

This Dubas guy really does his homework.

It's not just physical spaces on a roster -- it's about TOI. Those guys (all of them) need to be able to get significant ice time and with Gudas there they won't get what they should.

You can't expect the Flyers to throw Morin (coming off a major surgery) and Myers (whose never played an NHL game) into the line-up and have them play 15-20 minutes a game. Trading Gudas takes away a safety blanket in case either of them are not ready just yet. This team still has playoff aspirations this year and throwing 2 unproven rookies onto the defense all but waives the white flag for this season.

I'm not saying they'll play those minutes right away -- I'm saying they'll need to play them eventually (either at the tail end of this season or next season) and Gudas being on the roster is in the way of that. Myers and Morin aren't scrubs -- they can handle minutes (as long as their bodies hold up, MORIN!)

Sanheim was an unproven rookie earlier this year -- didn't look like a white flag to me when he was called up. He was called up because he was ready to make the jump just like Myers for sure is and Morin maybe is.
