Smith will play every game from here out, there’s no chance that Koskinen gets the start on Monday
I'm inclined to agree, but back to back is a lot in a 7 game series. If they win tomorrow I could see Kosk getting the start and having basically zero leash on Monday.

If they go down 0-3 I think you have to ride that beautiful old man into the ground and squeeze every second out of his stellar contract this year.

Shore, Haas, and Ennis should be in this lineup. Tippett won’t do it, but it should be Chiasson, Kahun, and Neal sitting. I’d also look at McLeod on the wing. And for the love of god, split the duo up. This is so lame how we continually go back to putting them together.

RNH - McDavid - Yamamoto
Ennis - Draisaitl - Puljujarvi
McLeod - Khaira - Archibald
Shore - Haas - Kassian

Try that IMO

It;s mind blowing what tippet sees in Neal and Chaisson, I don't get it, their careers are near done and are no longer effective players.

Because it won't make things better, it'll likely make them worse because the Oilers aren't a darling team of the league. The refs will just say "f*** you" and will either a) call nothing at all or b) call ticky tack shit on them here on out.

As much as I want someone to call these pricks out from the team, I think it'll cause more damage than good.
This is a self fulfilling prophecy, this is why nothing changes, if no one had your attitude maybe there would be more pressure on the league...two teams did it just yesterday and even sportsnet was commenting on the uneven officiating in the playoffs. Silence = status quo. It's impossible to be any worse really.

If Connor and Leon want help they need to show something special from here on out. They need to show that they can will the team to be competitive by themselves so that others will want to be part of that here. If we fold like a cheap tent then no one will believe in this team winning anything going forward.

They should really give Bouchard a shot. If not on defense then as a forward. His puck moving ability and shot is something that we could really need right now. Also, I hope Ennis and Haas can sub in for some of our useless forwards (Kassian being one of them)

We should have been running 7 D and 12 F all freaking season, but what do I know.

This is even more true with the Jets playing a hard trap, because you need clean breakout passes to break that. Barrie is usually good for that, but he has been an absolute disaster so far. Might as well get Bouchard some playoff experience as well. We aren't winning this round anyhow, get the young guys who will maybe be back here again next year some playing time.

I don't think it's a great idea now. You're throwing in a young kid who's cold as ice into high intensity hockey where the team is folding. If he makes a mistake, he's going to feel awful about it all summer long and we don't need that.

Tippett was a moron and made his bed with the Bouchard decision, he can now sleep in it. If he wanted to play him the playoffs he needed to give him at least 5-6 regular season games to get into a groove down the stretch.

Sweep incoming.

The way the guys are pouting about not getting calls is infuriating. There’s been no real elevation in intensity for a playoff series, much like the series against the Hawks.

After we get swept, I suspect Tippett will be fired.

Tippett should be fired even if we do manage to steal 1 game in this series. We theoretically could get a win in the next 2 games, it wouldn't shock me, I'd be a little surprised, but not shocked. Tippett has yet to make an adjustment pretty much all season, and has F'd up the development of young players along the way. If I was Holland I'd be scanning the horizon for a replacement at the very least.

I don't disagree with you about Tippett and his leadership. Two years straight he's coaching to get his team embarrassed out of the post season.

This whole "the refs are against us" thing needs to stop. Yes, the playoff style of hockey is a disaster and the NHL should be embarrassed of themselves, but the Oilers got a 5 on 3 last game. They got their chance on the PP and did jack squat.

You're right, I'd still like to see Tippett send a message or stand up for his players though.

This is where I'm at. Bitched and complained about the refs plenty throughout this series but after the lack of adjustments on that 5-on-3, this team has nobody to blame but itself.

Not like we're going to score on the man advantage with the way we're playing anyway.

POS 2017 Ducks can go eat all the satchels of Richards.

Actually, scratch that. Save some of the satchels to pass around to the Debbies on this board after the Oilers come back and win the series.

Not sure why you quoted me as I advocated why speaking out isn't a good idea. I'm more pissed off at the lack of preparation and adjustments by Tippett (again) than I am at the reffing.

These are the moments that tell you what a team is made of. Almost every team that makes it to the cup final had to come from behind to steal the series. We did it in 2006 against the Sharks and in 1990 against the Jets.

Change needs to come from the owners at the BoG meetings. Teams calling it out post game doesn't solve the problem. The league as a whole has refs which are a rung or two above WWE refs.

Case in point, everyone knows what a clown Tim Peele is, yet it took him hot mic-ing to have something done. The league could have done something then to improve it around the league but they just swept it under the rug like always.

Alright guys. We got this series.

I've officially retired the Draisaitl jersey I purchased in 2017. I think something weird happened with it and all it's good playoff mojo got burned out in that 5 point night game 5 for Leon. I ordered it when we cinched the the dance from NHL.com, it got lost in shipment and showed up just prior to game 5 vs the ducks.

It's 2-7 at this point in playoff games, not getting it done. My bad guys, these last few games were on me.

I've replaced it with our most winningest jersey of all time, the ugly new orange+dark blue 3rd jerseys. Be an easy series win from here.
