Why would the NHL fine a team that they have tried so hard to save. It will just come out of revenue sharing anyway.

That organization really ought to fire Chayka. He's turned things there into a complete mess.
Yeah, his time seem about up there. He would then complete the trifecta of GM’s fired after trading for/away Taylor Hall in the last not even 16 or so months.

And Tocchet and MacLean are terrible and worthless coaches.

I hope we eventually find out what this “testing” involved exactly. I’ve read it can be as minor as asking a player about their eating habits to as major as a full blown workout. I don’t think all actions that could fall under this rule are equal in seriousness.

Regardless of what the infraction was I hope it comes to light.

What 1st?

If hypothetically the Coyotes were found guilty and if hypothetically the NHL required a 1st from them, we would have to see what happens with their 2020 first.

Their pick belongs to the Devils, but it is lottery protected. If they win a lottery pick this year, then the NHL would just take away their 1st this year. If however they don't win a lottery, then the NHL would most likely take away a 2021 first.

Again this is just basically what if.

What is most likely going to happen is the Coyotes get fined.

Do you have anything from a reputable source? This is blog with a gigantic "Share on Facebook" button and a whopping 1.7k likes. Is this your site?

The 'article' is pretty much just a rehash of Andy Strickland's tweets which I linked a couple posts before yours. Strickland is a St. Louis beat writer, so he's reputable.

What 1st?

They could possibly give Arizona a window to forfeit the first rounder. Two instances under Bettman:

- In 1999, St. Louis was found guilty of tampering with Scott Stevens when they signed him to an offer sheet in 1994. Along with the monetary fine, the Devils had to a 5 year window (1999-2003) to take a 1st rounder from the Blues with a separate option to swap 1st rounder with St. Louis. As I remember it, St. Louis had a one time veto and the Devils weren't allowed to exercise both options in consecutive years. In the end, the Devils took St. Louis' 1st rounder in 2001 and swapped picks in 2003.

- Just before the 2010-11 season began, Bettman fined the Devils for circumventing the cap with the attempted 17 year Kovalchuk contract. The Devils were fined plus had to forfeit a 2011 3rd rounder plus a 1st rounder at some point between 2011 and 2014. At some point, New Jersey appealed and the penalty was revised where the Devils 1st rounder in 2014 was bumped to the end of the round.

So hypothetically, Arizona could be fined a first rounder since it doesn't necessarily have to be the 2020 pick which may end up with the Devils.

Since when has the organization not been in trouble?

They literally have 300 fans show up on game day with the least expensive tickets in the league while receiving the highest amount of subsidizing from the teams that actually turn a profit.

Should have been moved to a real market ages ago.

They (the league) need desert hockey. Can't see it ending up that bad.
If they let Atlanta, which was bigger and of more importance die (although the league's hand was forced), they'd let Arizona die, especially if the team could end up in a larger market (Houston). Now, if the choices are Arizona, or KC or Quebec City, they'll do what they can to save the team as the NHL is terrified of the idea of being out of 3 of America's 13 biggest markets (Houston, Atlanta and Phoenix).

Do you understand what "literally" means?
