I try to see what we can do by trading down #1 to Ottawa #3 + .
Detroit #1 to Ottawa #3,33,49,52,55,64,185. Is it possible to get for Lafrenier
3.Stutzle
33.Khustnutdinov
39.Foudy
52Villeneuve
55.Niederbach
64.Pashin
185.Beryozkin
Ha i seen those many picks are available in the App as well dont know if that would be doable in real life unless maybe sens had #2 and we trade back to #4? Guarantees sens lafraniere + byfield everything else is like who cares if im a sens fan

If we did that id trade back a few more spots if doable and get holtz . Seen your picks i dont know if im into foudy especially at #39 , from what i seen he doesnt have much upside and id hate to was a 39 pick on a bottom 6 guy. Rather go for a big hit and risk it

I used a similar setting as you did for mine today. And with one exception (Knazko) always just picked the highest ranked player available.

Thanks. There’s a lot of defensemen that I like that will probably go in the top 50. Outside the top 50 there’s only a few I prefer.

Really?

Not so much the case for me this year. After Drysdale, most of the guys out there I really have to talk myself into to be honest. Even Schneider/Guhle/Sanderson are pretty meh for me.

Commesso's always gone for me by 58 and I'm never prepared to take him at 51.
I wonder of Moore will be there at 113. That's where I often take him too.

I really like it. I might swap out Dion for a forward, but besides that I think it is really solid.

i'm not a huge fan of drafting a defenseman with the 4th, but it's quite possible one of sanderson or drysdale are the wings' pick, so i decided to roll with that and see where it got me. still not a terrible draft. we do need a first line left defenseman. khusnutdinov and commesso are legit additions. grabbed a second goalie just in case.

I would cry, lol. I dont even want Drysdale at 4, let alone someone who should go mid 1st....appreciate the attempt tho! If they want sanderson they should get a kings ransom for that #4!

your tears do not trouble stevie.

for real though, i've got my list of players i'd use picks 1-4 on, but i'm prepared for any name in my top 15 or so to be called. for what it's worth, my opinions are absurdly hasty compared to the amount of time and money the red wings organization has poured into these scouting reports. we really have no idea where the nhl scouts have sanderson on their lists. he's certainly climbed the ranks since the quarantine started though.

i have my preferences, but i'd be stoked to add any of these guys to the team:

lafreniere, byfield, stutzle, rossi, raymond, perfetti, drysdale, or sanderson.

...but if yzerman drafts askarov fourth overall (or holtz or lundell), so help me.

Honestly, if we walk away with Sanderson after the season we just endured, I will be genuinely pissed. I don't know how else to say it.
It's possible that Sanderson is the best defenseman on the draft, and if we trade down to get him I am ok with that, but SY said that we need all position get field, that's why I don't expect him to get defenseman or goalkeeper at #4.

Not happy about the LD i was able to get. Kleven and Nikishin could both be physical, defensive D.

But Benning/Moore give us two more pretty good RD.
Commesso becomes our #1 goalie prospect.
Stutzle should be really good.
Khus could be a solid two-way center

The question isn't whether he is the best defensemen of the draft, but whether he ends up a legit top-pair defensemen. If he ends up being a solid number 3, that will have been a bad use of the number 4 pick. I have said it before and will say it again, this isn't a great draft for defensemen and this draft isn't going to fix our defensive issues. The people expecting meaningful offensive contributions from Sanderson at the next level are going to be disappointed. Thankfully 2021 is shaping up to be a much better draft for defensemen (at least in the early first round).

I like Dion as a later round flier in the draft at LD. Good skill/hockey IQ, just undersized. Kind of reminds me of that Fensore kid from last year.

it wasn’t a knock on Dion necessarily. I just don’t want to take more than three defensemen this year. Just my hang up.
