Did you know Doug MacLean drafted Nash 1st overall in 2002? If not, I am sure he'd be glad to tell you about it.

Doug MacLean, the guy who drafted Rick Nash, and John Shannon, the biggest fan of eastern teams, both think Rick Nash is a superstar? I can't say I'm surprised.

he scored over 40 goals this season. great +-, beast on the pk... Tell me any other player in the nhl that did that this season. Not saying he is the best in the league but he is a superstar. Btw he also has two olympic goal medals!

27th in total points and 41st in points-per-game since entering the NHL is a superstar? I guess the definition of that word has loosened up quite a bit.

Doug MacLean and John Shannon are two of the biggest dummies on professional sports television. How they even have air time is beyond me.

he plays well for team canada because he is not even asked to be the best player on his line, much less his team

ideally he's a complimentary star to a franchise player, he doesn't step up in the playoffs

Everyone just heard them wrong. They actually said 'Nash is a supercar'.

In Shannon's case it's because he was HNIC producer. Guy has no hockey credentials to speak of, but one of the perks of producing the show you can put your dumb face on TV if you want.

It did. A lot did. Generational talents are now drafted every 5 years. 2 cups are dynasties. I'm sure there are more.

What about Shannon? Why should we care about his opinion? I mean, did he ever draft anybody 1st overall? I DON'T THINK SO.

Disagree,

MacLean drafted Nash and was a horrid, incompetent GM in Columbus.
Nothing he says should ever be taken with any amount of credibility.

Nash is an excellent player but he has trouble in the playoffs. Until that changes, he can't be a superstar in my eyes.
