I hung out with Tiger Williams and Pat Verbeek one night in TO and they were both absolutely great guys but that has nothing to do with who they were on the ice and neither does Doan being super chill imo.

As I've said on the Wings' and the main board: Doan gets a free pass for being dirty because he is captain of a sympathetic team.

Probably true.

That said, the jawing with the fans here is absolutely nothing. Total non-issue.

Dude's a loser on the ice, his conduct displays a lack of respect for the game and opposing players. Phoenix fans don't know any better, he's the only C they've had, but they deserve more, hopefully McEichel or Matthews can help.

The best Captains in the game aren't involved in any kind of debate like this one. He's embarrassing himself and the letter on his chest far too regularly so don't try and compare him to the best leaders this game has known and don't use some hokey NHL.com article written by some nobody staff writer with little credibility on the subject to back up that claim.
