I have a problem with everything that's not named Kadri, Frattin, JVR or Reimer right now

Orr I respect his job and what he goes through in that role. Its time to put him in the pressbox with McClaren. Brown Id keep around as he skates fast and bangs in the corners. Burke and Carlyle obviously still have that old school mentality. Id rather see guys that are tough to play against than fighters. Why do the Leafs need 3 fighters? Fraser is 4. Fraser and Holzer time to go back to the AHL.

Our 4th line is fine. Our first line sucks and is playing like the worst first line in the league.

Err, no... they've been hemmed into their own zone for nearly every game since the start of the season, and either escape by the skin of their teeth, or get bailed out by Reimer.

The Bruins' fourth line had 22 goals last season by my count. 29 the season before that. Ever heard of scoring by committee? It would be huge if our fourth line could pot a goal every few games. And it would be great if we could rely on them for a solid 9-10 minutes of responsible hockey.

Believe it or not, hockey games are not won because your fourth line plug punched another goon's face in. They're won because you outscore your opponent. And right now, our fourth line is not doing anything to help us outscore our opponents.

Is this our biggest problem? No. But it is a problem, and it shouldn't be.

This man gets it. Don't see how anyone can argue with this.

No but why does everyone compare it to the bruins fourth line? Do we compare our first line to the pens? More importantly do we have the worst first line in the NHL?

Right now, our first line is probably easily the worst in the league.

Players I would build around:

Reimer
Rielly
Gardiner
Kadri
Frattin
JVR
Kulemin

As far as I'm concerned, I would not give two ***** if anyone else was dealt.

I agree with you and with this list. I'd also like to see Colborne get some time with the Leafs too

+1 for this list. If Lupul could stay healthy he'd be an important piece but he never is.

Herp Derp, you could argue easily, since you know Bruins recently won the cup recently. Not only is there forth line better then ours... so is there first, second, third and all defense pairings. Look at stats on every forth line around the NHL. Not just the top team in the NHL LOL. Talk about manipulation of stats.

And no they have not been hemmed in their zone the entire game, I don't know what game you are watching. They play okay, keep the other teams in check and play hard. We lost this game because of horrible defensive plays, not cause of the forth line. I don't get why our fan base is obsessed with soft smurf hockey. And believe it or not if we have a bunch of figure skaters out there that play like a bunch of girl scouts, they don't do anything to outscore our opponents.

Seriously, I don't understand why it's like this. Now, the fourth line isn't crucial, but they still play an important role to bring energy and chippy play when needed.

Obviously with injuries, things are a little bit screwed up right now, but I don't see why the hell we need McLaren AND Orr out together. What will two goons accomplish, seriously?

In comparison, the Habs and Bruins both have good, dependable 4th lines (though 2.5 for Prust is a joke).

Why can't we just roll something like Brown-McClement-Hamilton? Dress Orr for games where we need a goon on the ice. Since Brown is injured right now, pick up a cheap 4th line option who's better than McLaren, or hell even call someone up that can bring more than he can.

The 4th line doesn't have to be amazing, but they can't be a liability either, and that's what they have been this year.

I wish we had kept Darryl Boyce. He was a perfect fourth liner.

4th lines don't usually win games, we have a pretty good 3rd line, probably why we have 4 wins this year. Look no further than #1 and #2 lines for the blame. They haven't gotten the job done enough this year.

Herp derp somebody can't read properly. Nobody is asking for a soft fourth line. And you haven't been watching the games clearly because the fourth line gets hemmed every game and can't sustain any pressure themselves.

It's not about the Bruins having an amazing fourth line, it's the fact that every competent team plays with 4 good lines, not 3, it burdens the rest of the team when the 4th line can't chip in and do their job.

Nobody is asking for an all-star fourth line, just one that is capable of doing their job effectively and sustaining pressure and energy without succumbing to the other team.

And again, nobody's blaming this game on the 4th line. The team has many issues, but this is one that should not be an issue like the poster I quoted said.

I also mentioned Montreal in the OP. Of course, all you see is Bruins and you decide to cherrypick.

Agreed. We should have PK specialists on this line. Kill penalties and play a 4th line role. The Leafs 4th line needs a little more talent than the 2 goons. That is a thing of the past and that hurts your talent depth in tough games. The 4th line got 4 mins tonight.

Herb Derp, who else do we have in the system READY to play at the NHL level and can play the nasty on the forth line?? Players like that don't come by so often, so you know its like kind of hard to get them. Oh really now?? Most good teams roll 4 lines constantly? I suggest you check the stats for the forth line of the Devils, Rangers, Flyers and so on. It's roughly around ours, next time check your stats before making things up on the fly dude. Also Herb Derp, the Bruins comment was to the other guy who compared our forth line to the Bruins. Give them time, when Brown comes back will get some speed on that line again. Forth line is the least of our worries.

Our fourth line is quite scary to watch right now. Every shift the line seems to get hemmed in their own end, getting shot and scored on.

So why are we crying about having a apparent terrible fourth line when general consensus is our first line is the worst in the league. I see who created the thread makes sense, your persistant loafofbread I'll give you that.

Wow. Then go ahead and block me already!

It is true! They got scored on against Boston and have generally just been getting absolutely school on the ice. It's like watching an average AHL caliber line play hockey.

Minnesota had a pretty weak 4th line I think, but they got Mike Rupp today which helps their cause lmao
