Perry but Perry was way more of a pest than the dirty nutjob people made him out to be. Hardly a Cooke/Torres type player even though he did step over the line here and there.

Reaves. Same story.

Pittsburgh
Ulf Samuelsson, who not only knocked Neely out of the playoffs, but made Boston fans even more insufferable than thought possible.

I can't imagine being proud of loving a dirty player. And I don't mean a pest that had one or 2 incidents. Ryan Hollweg was easy to hate because he was such a bad player regardless so maybe it's unfair, but at some point he just became a hit from behind machine and that's when I started hating him.

I don’t like the dirty players on my team, not even the “defense specialists” who exist to interfere with good players within the Game Management system.

I did like our enforcers though as long as they were Code Followers

Steve Downie in Colorado. Drastically underrated as a hockey player. He was an impact player.

Raffi Torres with Edmonton was just a little bit dirty but still decently productive and brought solid energy. Once he went to Vancouver he was a full pyscho though.. maybe too much time spent at Roxy and after hours places?

This was my first thought too. Guy was a hero in 2006 cup run along with Pisani and several others.

I have to admit I enjoyed how much Guerin got under the skin of the Avs star players, including the usually steel-skinned Forsberg, in the 1998 playoffs 1st round upset by the Oilers. The Denver media called him Billy the Butcher after the Game 1 slash that cut Forsberg's cheek.

Matt Cooke before he left Vancouver. He wasn't that dirty or reckless actually.
Despise Cooke with all of my being, derailed Lecavaliers career with a blind side late hit. How anyone can be a fan of someone that destroys hockey careers is beyond me.

Islanders.

Trevor Gillies was liked but not loved. Chris Simon wasnt loved.

trying to think. I don’t consider Kasperitis dirty but some might. He was my first favorite NHL player.

Not really sure who this would be for Carolina. Jeff Skinner tried to kick a guy once?

I just read a list that said Keith Primeau was the dirtiest Hurricane, but nobody liked him anyway.

Yeah, Canes haven't really had anyone like that. You're gonna have to go back to the Hartford days - Samuelsson and Verbeek were pretty dirty.

Oilers: Mark Messier (ainic :sarcasm:)

But seriously, he wasn't only tough and physical - but sometimes downright dirty. That's a very rare skillset to find in a Conn Smythe + Hart calibre centre.

I loved Cooke as part of the Cooke-Staal-Kennedy 3rd line for the Penguins. That was a great line that was incredibly well balanced.

That said, I hated some of Cooke's hits. You can like the player and disapprove of certain actions.
