He’s right where he should be.

Starting his own dojo, where he specializes in one move: The Dreaded Double Leg Kick! Where he is the Master!
If it works, you're the coolest person for the next five minutes. If it doesn't you're just kind of screwed...

He's already made $78 million USD through his career and he's at over $89 million if you include his buy out money. His wife is worth many millions of dollars as well.

Playing another season for under a million probably doesn't make a dent in his life, so unless he wants to play for the love of the game, I can't see him signing another contract.

He has never been defensively competent in his entire career and now, after barely being able to hold on to an NHL job last season he's going to be come a shut down blue liner?

How on earth do you figure he could do that?

I don't think he would be elite shut down but better than some 6/7's out there.

Spoken of where is this and that player. I had wonder for a while now, where is Benoit Pouliot, and Scott Glennie. Both acceptable young still, but completly of the earth. And where is Mike Ribiero...

He will be in the Canadian spinoff of 'The Ranch' titled 'The Maple Tree Farm' about a washed up has been hockey player who returns home to find his familys maple tree farm in peril.....co-stars Elisha Cuthbert as his wife whom his brother steals from him, Ryan Reynolds as Dion's brother 'Rooster', Mike Myers as his dad, Eugene Levy as his uncle and Randy Carlyle as the town drunk.

I’m sure he’ll end up on the Kings tv broadcast or player development group soon enough.

He's the kind of guy you would expect to PTO (but then wouldn't he already be on one now with camps underway?) Then sign for league minimum with a playoff team as a 7th man lockeroom injury cover veteran. Or maybe a team needs a 7th man where they'd rather have their young guys playing bigger minutes in the minors rather than riding the pine (EDM is a candidate on that front). But does he want to take league minimum to play in EDM? or sit on a beach in california with his movie star wife?

Would there be sufficient air time for him to get 1 sentence out?

In all seriousness... in toronto he seemed to have unusually long pauses as he appeared to search for words during media scrums.

Any pro scout that recommends to his GM that they sign Phaneuf should be summarily fired and banned from hockey forever. He was by far the worst defenseman in the NHL last year.

Phaneuf has been terrible for years but he's always been in bad situations like Toronto which gave him a good excuse.

He had a streak of like 40 games without a single point in the new high scoring NHL era.
Last season a 1 vs 1 featuring Phaneuf vs Kesler would = nothing happening, both players failing to put puck in the net.
