Just the embarrassment of this season is at least justification for me in Shero being fired.

Still can’t score more than 2 goals on a lot of nights (after Shero talks out of his ass about how you need to score more than 2 goals to win games 5 years ago) Andy Greene still has a significant role here and we have to watch goalies like Domingue and Schneider play in 2020.

And all that aside, one thing I really can’t blame him on but we need to ask Nasreddine, why does Hughes play with Simmonds? Simmonds is washed up and close to the end and he finally is split from Wood, who is one of the most underwhelming players on this roster.

And it took long enough to scratch Mueller. I was starting to think he’s related to Nasreddine or Harris.

Just for the record:

Holik not only finished 3 times in the top 10 of Selke voting, he finished 5 straight years in a row in the top 20 and 3 in the top 10. That's perennial.

I did have to look up that information ;)

Hynes was the major reason they were so bad offensively. By the time he was canned, Hall was already out the door, which thinned the team out offensively by a lot.

guys like Zajac, Simmonds, and Zacha being black holes doesn’t help either.

What's scary is even if we win the #1 pick next year, and Nico and Hughes take big steps, I still do not know how you fix that defense/goaltending. Blackwood has been good, but will it continue and can he keep taking the next step behind this awful defense?

Better coaching will help with the new staff probably coming in.

Who do you keep on the defense?

I really don't know how to fix this team going forward. Frustrating.

One positive is Nico getting a goal and almost getting the winning goal after getting the shit kicked out of him all night by this big Dallas team. After that last hit he looked like a kid who was ready to grab his stuff and go home. LOL. But he stuck it out and got a goal. He's like our Rocky. Gets the crap neat out of him but just keeps coming at you.

Nico deserves to be Captain of this team (Sorry Coleman) with how he has battled all game long and got the tying goal and almost ended it.

Sucks it ended in OT on the losing end but at least we didn't lose in the Gimmick.

BTW, not like anyone cares(but me) : Bratt with another Primary assist today. So inconsistent. o_O

That 1st line was doing good work.

The only d-men we have imo that are serviceable are subban and vatanen and vatanen might be shipped out...rip lol. The rest are garbage.

One of Brodie, Krug, or Muzzin /Subban
Smith/Severson
Some Plug/Butcher

I think what's more important here is the defense coach. No minor league bullshit. Needs to have played NHL defense competently and relatively cerebral. Scott Stevens would be my choice. But I don't know who's out there

There needs to be a giant purge. Nothing is worth keeping for the right deal. The blue line needs to be completely remade. Goaltending is irrelevant in this league...just need average. I think Blackwood is just fine but we obviously need some help. We can add an average goalie that can play 30to 40 games while Blackwood learns. I'd bring in veterans and physical players to take pressure off of any young players in the lineup.... Vatanen, Coleman, Palmieri should probably be traded. They really don't fit this teams timeline. We don't even have a foundation for the future and this team without significant changes is nowhere near being competitive.

He needs to figure out how to take hits better. And he's always got a look on his face that's a combination of exhaustion, worry, and misery. Somebody tell him he's allowed to have fun.

Like it or not, and I know you pretty much don't, but Nico and Hughes are the foundation going forward.

I'm not saying Hughes won't be a great player - but I don't understand how you can definitively say he's the foundation going forward when he's still 18 and hasn't proven anything yet.

When you're a #1 overall you better be a foundation player. If Hughes isn't we're in a bit of trouble, cause then we only have one assuming Nico makes the leap from good complementary player on a good team to no-doubt #1 center.

It doesn't matter what I think....but...they just aren't good enough to be the foundation of anything. People get all emotional when there is a negative comment about young players...but none of what I am saying means these guys aren't good players....but ""good" players aren't foundational. I mean there is still some time for Hughes to show something but his performance this year has been appalling in my opinion...I mean almost an embarrassment. So where is his ceiling from here? We'll see I guess and of course you don't trade a #1 overall after his 18 year old season but if he's twice as good next season that still sucks....that's how much he has to improve. I'm not seeing the path forward with these two unless you surround them with significantly better players ...then they are just a cog not foundational at all

Just got home. Game was boring as heck after the first period. 2nd was really low event.... Bad passing all game long, even from thr guys who are stellar (goose).. Although he had one really nice pass in the game.

Dallas can't shoot for shit, Either. This game they were missing the net on some quality chances, otherwise the game score would have really been in their favor.

Scare for Sami, but he came back right?

The replica ring they gave out is pretty reasonable, considering everyone got one. Ceremony was fun, too bad the team forgot to play high quality NHL hockey after the first period.
