Hynes coached this game like he knows his job is safe. It was pretty hilariously bad.
Rooney out there late. This reminded me of when he made a bunch of really dumb lineup decisions a few times in 16-17 and I don't question his lineup decisions or talent evaluation much, but tonight was really bad.
And this was one of these terribly low-even games from his first several years. I'm not gonna say it's a new thing (or a new-old thing) because it hasn't become a trend yet, but it was scary to watch. I've always been skeptical of Hynes system when we've had leads, we seem to sit back more than most teams typically do.
We even did it against Pittsburgh the other night and there were too many anxious moments at 3-1, before we got that fourth goal. But it's understandable against Pittsburgh, not against this Rangers team. It's pretty scary when it happens against them.
