Going forward, would you give Blackwood the majority of the starts, play them 50/50, play Blackwood as the backup, or just ride the hot hand?
Probably ride the hot hand.

Really don't wanna see Cory again though. He's burnt toast. Seeing Blackwood these two starts makes me even more annoyed with what I've seen out of Cory this year.

I'm praying Blackwood becomes the guy. It would do wonders for the Devils if we have an NHL caliber goalie at 22 years old.

It's risky, but it would also open up potential trades for Kinkaid at the deadline. That's why I think we need to ride out Mac Black for a while to see what we have with him going into next season.

I don't see how you even get anything for KK at the deadline at this point. His stats are too ugly, people can attribute it to the team but GM's aren't going to trade for that statline regardless. As much as people wanted to say ah he's a starter now, he really wasn't. He had good twenty-game stretches at the end of last year and the beginning of this year but that's not enough to make a starter. At most if he was playing well maybe you could get some conditional mid-round pick for him from a team that randomly needs goalie depth like Al Montoya last year.

If anything a good stretch by Blackwood in the second half would preclude them from getting a starter next year, they'd either get a vet backup or hope Cory could somehow be that but I don't see how he gets back in the mix if Blackwood keeps playing well.

There's no reason for him not to start Blackwood, it's a non-back to back, they said they were getting him a look after the break and he responded big time tonight. I'm already nuts enough in the back of my mind hoping Blackwood somehow has the impact on this year's team that Lemaire did in 2010 for that team in the wilderness.
On the one hand you might want to let MBW ride while he is hot. On the other you might want to let a nice win marinate.

I won't freak if Kink gets the next start.

This was one of those games where you hold on for dear life. Played a fantastic opening period, the rest was suspect at best. MB29 stole the show.

I thought NJ played pretty consistently all game, I wouldn't say they were clinging to the cliff for 2 periods...... The shots were a bit lopsided at one point, and there were some dicey moments, but I felt NJ was still generating chances.

Boston looked really bad in their back line, and with a combination of having a poor transition outlet game. I can't count how many turnovers or left pucks to get picked off......in their own zone and in the neutral zone.

Wasn't used to seeing NJ get so many freebie offensive zone chances, all due to Boston messing something up...

Ride the hot hand.

I think Kink is still the starter, you don't want to put too much on the plate of a guy who played his way to the ECHL last year. But if Kink doesn't get his game together while Blackwood is able to build off the start to his career then you have to go with the rookie.

I think consistency, for both goalies, is a key.

We still need a backup. Even in the unlikely scenario that Blackwood proves to be a guy who can fully handle #1 duties, he can't play every game.

And as noted, Kink won't have much trade value, heck I'm for bring Kinking back next year.

even if it’s been a couple games, i feel pretty solid about blackwood moving forward. if we can go into next year with positive years from mac and kinky then cory will almost certainly be bought out and we can move forward from feeling obligated to play him.

Pavel Zacha over the last 2 games.

Corsi for 32. Corsi against 10.
Shots for 19. Shots against 3.
Goals for 0. Goals against 0.

I do think it’s more bad luck with this kid then anything else.

He does need to be more consistent with his efforts. Tonight was a very good game, but he still has nights where he isn’t involved enough and those definitely are his fault for hurting his bottom line.

Worth remaining patient with him though.
