i’m just pulling tits lol, don’t take me seriously. i just hope we get end-of-season haula for 3 years, that would make this contract a bargain. This is aggressive…
… and I approve!
what adds to the perception that it’s too much is looking at what bratt signed for. same with nico, same with hughes and same with the other hughes someday probably. johnny leadership didn’t really give us a sweetheart deal, at best it was a fair one. and i understand that’s his right, but the precedence set by the actual leadership makes it a little tougher to swallow.Count me in the camp who thinks Haula got more then expected.
But much of my reasoning is that he, for whatever reasons, has been underpaid much of his career. Didn’t expect a 32 year old journeyman to get a raise to stay with a good young team. If he was coming off a $4.5 per year deal id probably think this was very fair.
Dvorak is bad, especially for centering Holtz.dont hate the idea of him back on the left side with hughes and bratt in that psuedo-centerman role. In that case, would prefer they go find a 3C - wonder if you could get Christian Dvorak out of Montreal for a reasonable price? Or if Haula goes to 3C, like the idea of Palat on his left and maybe holtz on the other side, then trying to find a LW for hughes.
How do you know? I’m not telling this is not truth, but how do you know? Our goaltending will be the same and out defense will be younger and more raw.IMO his only mistake is keeping Ruff as coach for the playoffs and hiring Travis Green as associate coach for the playoffs. There is time for change during the regular season. Ruff has done a good job with the Devils but he has taken them as far as he can, and the Devils are ready for round 3 in the second season and he is not the guy to get them into it.
With Haula wouldn't let 3rd year be a downer he is a very versatile player for us and can play up or down...Not to mention his bartender skills and as we saw he raises his level of play come playoff timeYeah, I said early on I expected it would be over 3m but the higher it got over 3m the less warm and fuzzy I would feel about it. (This is in no way a claim about guessing his deal, I was reasonably vague lol.)
I knew some people were hoping his public declarations of wanting to stay meant he agreed to be human trafficked by Fitz, and he was going to take a deal with little term and a very minor raise.
But he was already dirt cheap, due to a bit of dip in production while being shipped around and signing with the tight-fisted Boston early in the frozen cap era.
Despite his brutal cold streak he performed well on his bargain 2 year/2.375m deal. He was projected at 3.5m. He wasn’t going to get a raise of a few 100k with the cap going up.
I’m not thrilled with a 3 year term, but again, he’s still a UFA and getting any sort break on the price is very helpful. There aren’t many centers on the market and we have no depth at that position.
LOL on the Carter line....This years FA pool is weak. If you are upset about the deal, step back and look around.
How would you like Barclay Goodrow at 3.65, the guys barely get 30 pts.
Our old friend Blake Coleman rocking a 5.9m avv, only gets 30pts a season.
Remember JG Pageau, hasn’t scored over 20 since his OTT days, rocking a 5 avv, 30-40pts a season.
Jeff Carter 3.15, scores around 30 pts, 80 years old in hockey years.
Let not forget about Palat’s deal…moving on. (Thank TB for raising the price on 3rd liners)
A Fair deal, is a steal on the FA market. We should keep an eye out for O’Reilly’s contract. Someone is going to pay a 32 year old for his past glory.

I am sorry I thought we were discussing Head Coach Lindy Ruff of the NJ Devils.History worked for Trotz for a long time. And than it was a different history.
Lindy has had 900 wins entering the postseason, the Most Successful NHL coach NEVER to have won a Stanley Cup. In 132 playoff games that he coached his record is 71-61; .538 winning percent. How do you know? I’m not telling this is not truth, but how do you know?
