It is overblown, the 2016 Pens won too with one righthander, I'm not saying it's something that wouldn't help a team but it doesn't make sense to trade a top defensemen for a lower tier one just because he's not a righty and the lower tier is, I'd rather go with the more talented and better defenseman.I don't think the handedness thing is overblown at all. Unless a guy has played both sides consistently, you can't just peg a righty to play LD or vice versa
If we look in the closest past at the teams with success like tampa, islanders, montreal and dallas(local success), even pens and blues - ideally all of your D are good D.No such thing as “too many puck movers” either. Ideally all of your D are puck movers.
Except for the fact that puck movers tend to be smaller less physical players. You can’t win a playoff series with 6 samuel girardsNo such thing as “too many puck movers” either. Ideally all of your D are puck movers.
Sorry. Couldn't resistlol what? You understood perfectly what I meant.
Lou's not the GM anymore.all I will say is that if we miss on Dougie, please do not panic and throw money at Tyson Barrie
Imagine we come out with Dougie and Gabe somehow.
Ill get season tickets Thursday
Do you even watch the rest of the league like, at all?Except for the fact that puck movers tend to be smaller less physical players. You can’t win a playoff series with 6 samuel girards
I do remember after Scotty bolted for the Ducks he right away threw money at Malakhov, it was a disaster.Lou's not the GM anymore.
And McGillis and Rachunek if I recall correctly.I do remember after Scotty bolted for the Ducks he right away threw money at Malakhov, it was a disaster.
Yes on McGillis but I think the other defenseman was Richard Matvichuk. And McGillis and Rachunek if I recall correctly.
Oh right. Yes. How could I forget Matvichuk.Yes on McGillis but I think the other defenseman was Richard Matvichuk.
The reason Oleksiak turned heads and why he was such a good get for the Kraken was because he has size and puck moving ability.Except for the fact that puck movers tend to be smaller less physical players. You can’t win a playoff series with 6 samuel girards

Because that is just totally not true

well yeah when you have multiple Hall of Famers on D, you can make up for some things....
My point still stands.
Where does it say this only works with multiple hall of famers?uh, not really. Unless your point is we'll have multiple hof d-men in the future guaranteed.
It's also a completely different game now.
And no Hall of Famers on that blueline. The 2017 Pens had 1 regular righty in Schultz who played 21 of the 25 games during their run and then another who played in Ruhwedel who played 6 games of the 25. Reminder this was also the year without Letang
Ok, gentlemen, I dont think that building a winning team with two sofies playmakers(Luke and Ty) and Severson(we dont have any option, even if we add Hamilton) in top-4 is a working idea. I can be wrong here, but this is how I see today winning hockey teams works. Would be great If Smith(somehow) and Luke will play solid defensive game.
But we have zibillion left defensemen and two lef playmakers to split their time.
If we wanna add some young solid right defenseman, we should trade something really valuable. But this is how I see our situation. I can and hope I will be wrong and we will be solid. Magically.
