Don’t make @Brodeur quote the TSN radio interview at length to debunk this because he will get medieval on it’s ass.

We had a few posts about Ferraro's comments a couple pages back. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I have to point out the context of the conversation:

- Ferraro and the TSN Vancouver radio host talking about an Athletic article speculating about RHD that the Canucks could pursue
- Ferraro singled out Severson as somebody he liked from a previous viewing at the World Championships
- Ferraro finished off his remarks by adding the qualifier if the Devils were shopping Severson.
- It was an informal chat rather than Ferraro breaking news. Over the 20+ minute conversation, they talked about various topics du jour and the Severson/RHD part was about two minutes.

I always caution against using TSN/Sportsnet radio interviews as news sources since it's usually more speculation and casual conversation. It is amusing to see that Spector still has a gig as a news aggregator; He's been at it since the 90's.

Too late :skeptic:

I like Soucy, a lot. Tall, gangly guy...6'5" or so? Not tough, but not a pushover. Good defensively, but has surprising offense, and good wheels. On the Wild he has trouble getting off the third pairing because Suter and Brodin are above him. Would not embarrass himself on a second pairing, and might do better than that. Has an awkward look, but is effective.

Would you guys pay the #18 and #20 for Dumba?

Dumba's a good player but I don't think three years of him is worth two first round picks. Besides that, it doesn't make much sense in terms of when we expect to be competitive (3-4 years from now).

It's almost a week since Masisak posted an article. Come on Corey do a mailbag. I need to know if you think Ty Smith will make the team next year and what line you think Joey Anderson will slot into. Also, what are the backup goaltender options.

I had to double check but I thought he gave a heads up on his vacation.

1. Yes
2. Whatever line Zajac is on
3. The one and only Cory Schneider

It's a steep price to pay when we already have Subban and Severson on the right side.

If we're moving any of our 1st round picks (and, even then, it'll be 18 or 20), it has to be for a young, defensive top-4 LHD or a game-breaking forward.

The insights on Soucy are appreciated. We can tack him onto our FA wish list, right below Dillon. I'd absolutely take a flyer on him and give him that second-pair look.

What's the cost on Greenway?

Thank you for the info on Soucy.

Regarding Dumba, no I wouldn’t give up 2 top 20 picks in this years draft for him. I would much rather take our chances in FA and hold onto our draft capital to either keep loading up the prospect pool looking for high end players or save up those picks to bundle in a bigger deal for someone who could play higher than the 2nd pairing.

"But, that doesn’t mean there won’t be some kind of get-together for Ottawa players before camps open across the league The seven teams that didn’t take part in the post-season, including Detroit, Los Angeles, San Jose, Anaheim, New Jersey and Buffalo, have all appealed to the league to at least be allowed to have a longer training camp than the other 24 teams that took part in the post-season.

The word amongst league executives is the initiative is being led by Anaheim GM Bob Murray and he’s been the one dealing with the NHL head office about the possibility. All seven teams have made it clear they feel it’s important because of the length of time between games for their players.

Deputy commissioner Bill Daly indicated in an email Monday afternoon that teams like the Senators, Wings, Kings, Sharks, Ducks, Devils and Sabres could be granted a longer camp if the NHL Players’ Association agrees to it.

“Yes, we have been talking with the union about giving the seven clubs additional days of mandatory training camp period prior to the opening of the main camp,” Daly wrote to Postmedia from Edmonton. “Timing would be tied entirely to the opening of training camp so remains uncertain.”

So let’s just say we trade for a player or sign a guy as a FA who was on one of the final four teams, would those players get an exemption from having to go to camp early? That’s the kind of stuff the union might have to negotiate.

Rumors are apparently that the Toffoli deal is done and could be announced this week. Not really "important" for us, per se, but it's worth noting and checking in on because I think it's a contract that brackets the bottom of Kyle's range with regards to his next deal.

You all are crazy. I wouldn't put up my Twitter account on here so you heathens know it :laugh:

I would, as Kinkaid would attest to.
