Someone actually traded for De la Rose?

Did Brett Hull break into the Blues offices, declare himself as GM and drunk dial Yzerman?

So many unanswered questions.
I mean not really. Fabbri needs a lot of playing time to hopefully turn his game/career around. It wasn't going to happen in St. Louis. He has little to no value at this point. He asked for a trade. Armstrong got what he could for him. 2019 Fabbri is not anywhere near the player 2016 Fabbri was. I hope he turns his game around and ends up having a good career, but it doesn't seem likely at this point.

I'm not a fan of either team but it's good to see the kid get a break like this.

Edit: He scores two - good for Febreeze.

Kinda like Lars Eller. Not someone who'll give you any offensive depth but a very solid defensive guy on the right roster. DLR is an NHL player. Frabbri is a risky bet with the injuries and all. Could be a good trade for both teams or nothing at all!

Having watched both a lot when they were in Montreal, DLR is multiple tiers below Eller as a hockey talent. That said DLR is certainly a serviceable 4th liner with really good defensive qualities.

Gotta chime in. DLR is nothing like Eller is a guarantee for double digit goals and around 30 points a season while being a solid defensive guy. Hes a solid third line guy. DLR is a 7 goal a year guy. He can play in the NHL but hes really just a big body that doesnt use it much and can PK solidly.

You know how this will go as a Blues fan. Fabbri will end up scoring 60 points this year with Detroit and DLR will blow his knee out in practice tomorrow. :sarcasm:

Whether Fabbri does well in Detroit, or not, it was clear he wasn't going to succeed in St. Louis. Instead of trying to force something out of him, they dealt him to give him a chance.

Yep. This seems to be something that is missed a lot on HF.

Just because a team trades a struggling player who turns out great for a less than great return does NOT mean it was a bad trade because there is no guarantee the player would have turned out just as good if he wasn’t traded.

Even if Fabbri ends up great for Detroit, I won’t judge STL for giving up on him as he was doing nothing for them.

He's a talented player. Why did the Blues give up on him?
Because he's too small for their system, he's had 2 ACL tears and was not getting enough ice time to improve his game. When he did get ice time he was downright awful.

Great start for him in Detroit, but don't get too excited just yet. His biggest impact may just be as a morale booster for Bertuzzi. Only time will tell.

DLR will do more for STL than Fabbri for Detroit. Injuries are the great unfair equalizer, because Fabbri looked really good early on his career. But he's nowhere near that good anymore, at least he can skate and get out there though.

You bring up Fabbri's injuries but make no mention that De La Rose has been hospitalized multiple times for heart issues. That risk is just as real moving forward

The fact is De La Rose is a replacement level player with virtually no offensive game. He's never had one at any level. Any tweener could plug into St. Louis's bottom 6 right now with the system they have.

Fabbri could glide around on one leg out there and still easily be the more useful player.
