He announced his retirement last September but apparently hasn't dropped his retirement papers, yet. So, he still has a contract and is still on the roster.Kyle Brodziak is LTIR "retired" - his career his done. Not sure why he was included.
Over the last four years, Green's PP P/60 is 3.25.
That's 104th among defencemen that have played more than 100 games.
Kris Russell's is 3.14 over that stretch.
I'm not really sure why Edmonton acquired him yet, but I can confidently say it wasn't to help an already spectacular powerplay.
To Edmonton picking up a 5/6D?
Does this move the needle enough for rivals to have to respond?

plus edm always seem have have their dmen hurt. this is just a depth move. he’s a solid vet who can help out.I don't hate this trade.
It's good to have depth and veterans for the playoffs. He can't be worse than sekera.
He can't. And is a defensive mess.if he can still make a good pass out of his own zone and gets shots through on the PP, then this is a decent add. If even just for a more level of depth on RHD.
Maybe Green can play RW. Kidding, kidding... but not really.
