Only reason you go for 2 there is if your plan is: Stop, score, go for 2 for the win. You make that a 1 score game if you’re playing to tie

I disagree. I think it makes sense to go for 2 there. You need to get a 2 point conversion at some point.

If you fail, better to know if you need another scoring drive with 8 minutes left rather than 2.
