It’s tough when you have a guy play a great game and the next look like he shouldn’t be in the NHL. No one is expecting him to be a 6 mil a year guy just a solid 3rd liner these playoffs.
Yup wish Marchand, pasta, Bergeron were playing liking solid 1st liners tooIt’s tough when you have a guy play a great game and the next look like he shouldn’t be in the NHL. No one is expecting him to be a 6 mil a year guy just a solid 3rd liner these playoffs.
Whataboutism (also known as Whataboutery) is a red herring version of the classic tu quoque logical fallacy - sometimes implementing the balance fallacy as well - which is employed as a propaganda technique. It is used as a diversionary tactic to shift the focus off of an issue and avoid having to directly address it. This technique works by twisting criticism back onto the critic and in doing so revealing the original critic's hypocrisy.Yup wish Marchand, pasta, Bergeron were playing liking solid 1st liners too
Ok, BACKES has played as good as Marchand, Pasta, Bergeron in his limited time relatively speaking???? That better? They have their own threads.
It’s wrong, but it does work for this thread.Ok, BACKES has played as good as Marchand, Pasta, Bergeron in his limited time relatively speaking???? That better? Work for the thread?
Don’t expect backes to play like 1st liner. I expect him to lay big hits, chip in a point or two, and not be a liability? He has met my expectation in his limited play. Top line has not. It’s wrong, but it does work for this thread.
we ain’t losing this series because of David Backes. But your right and I’m wrongDon’t expect backes to play like 1st liner. I expect him to lay big hits, chip in a point or two, and not be a liability? He has met my expectation in his limited play. Top line has not.
Yet he is not the worse bruin in the series? Laid the biggest hit last game and played 4 minutes. Has 1 giveaway. Led the team in hits in game 2 and setup the first goal. So game 2 the only style of game/play that will take this team anywhere he was the leader. The **** show we have been seeing with Marchand and pasta give the puck away all game, no work ethic by most players and this constant fear of the leafs speed is what is losing this series not David Backes
Lead the team in hits with 4 minutes. Leader on team in series in plus minus ? I’d say our coach decided we need to match Toronto’s speed? Got us the win right?I think the really obvious question for you is if he's been so solid, why did he only get 4 minutes last game? We both know the answer, which means you won't respond, but it's true. He got 4 minutes because he's a ****ing liability.
If only Backes could go back 7-8 years, he’d actually be useful.
True, I actually like Backes as a person so I shouldn’t be knocking him. Just got caught up in some ridiculous posts. There is no point of being hard on the guy
But Kuhlman and Nordstrom were the right insertions in the lineup
kind of surprised Wagner was the guy to sit, but that looks like was the right move as well. Acciari played a solid game

Kuhlman was great today, he’ll definitely be playing Tuesday.

...
Kuhlman was great today, he’ll definitely be playing Tuesday.
Man it is so obvious he needed to sit all series. What a difference.
Thought they both struggled pretty mightily, Johansson too - but it was good to see Cassidy confident in his lines none the less....
Nordstrom and Kuhlman played today and did s great job.
That doesn’t mean that Wagner and Backes will never see the ice again and can’t be effective and important.
To be fair he was a spark in game 2Man it is so obvious he needed to sit all series. What a difference.
I truly wonder what the average number of players used among SC winners is.
I mean, it’s clear that teams use well over 20 guys en route to the cup.
We’re talking 4-5 weeks and 16 - 28 games of hockey.

I could actually see Cassidy wanting to get Backes (and Wagner) out there for Game 7 because of their experience.
I think a 4th line of:
52-42-14
Could be effective.
Definitely.
I’d also not be surprised if the same lineup wins by 3 or loses by 3.
These teams are so evenly matched I truly wouldn’t bet a dollar either way,
I would not be surprised either.
One thing that could influence the decision making by Cassidy is the PK? Acciari had almost 3 minutes of SH TOI, and Nordstrom was over a minute. Wagner could probably take those minutes?
To be honest, gun to my head as far as my comfort level goes among those three among PK ability goes, they’re pretty equal in my book.
I’d probably keep the forwards the same on Tuesday.
I might switch out Grizz for Clifton if he was healthy though.
Not giving up on Grizz, but he could use a game off and I like the nasty that CC can bring.
