I’ll never understand why folks will single out players for being greedy, and not say a single thing about ownership who are the worst of all parties involved.

Players aren’t paid to balance the team’s salary cap.

If you want them to do so hire them as AGMs

When a player fights hard to take up more share of the salary cap than they deserve, it hurts the teams chance to be competitive.

Not the case if MLSE executives get a raise.

The 4th round pick in 2015 Toronto got for him was traded to Edmonton for Martin Marincin. The 2nd round pick in 2016 they got was traded back to Pittsburgh in the Kapanen trade when we disposed of kissiel.

The second time Winnik was traded to Washington for Brooks Laich, Connor Carrick and a 2nd round pick in 2016 from the Capitals which the Leafs used to select Carl Grundstrom.
