The more I think and read about it the more I love this pick. Zero issues when it was announced, but now I see where the scouting staff seen his top potential.

Oh damn .... the media limit is smaller than the past. I"m going to have to get creative to make everything work.

Seems exactly what we need, hope he pans out. Someone that doesn't need to dump and chase every shift.

There was some mention of that lack of effort being due to the team's reliance on his offense, as well.

He seems to be the catalyst for everything on a pretty bad team.

That's something that can be fixed if he puts in the effort and he's supposedly a pretty smart hockey player. He probably cheats a lot to save energy because he's his teams's best player. On a bad team that needs to outscore everyone that makes sense. If he improves that like he has his passing, there's definite upside here.

Yeah the guy in the video also added that his lack of effort in the D zone might be cause of how much ice time he's required to play cause the team leans on him pretty heavily.

Also added he's a great player in transition now that he has improved his skating and loves to hang onto the puck. Also has above average hands although he doesnt use them as much as flashy players

I like the pick. More I hear about him as others have mentioned the more I like him.

Offense first player that's very intelligent in the O zone, has no clear weaknesses offensively and is showing major improvements year after year.

Arguably my favorite part though is hearing that he is great in transition and loves to hang onto the puck and create space and chances for others.

“He always finds open areas with his hockey IQ,” Choules said. “The puck follows him around. He makes his linemates better.”

Given how celebrated Bourque’s on-ice vision is, the question was asked: When you have the puck on your stick and you’re looking to make a pass, what exactly are you looking for?

“Um, scoring chances?” said Bourque bluntly.

Of course, what else would he be looking for? He could end up being a high-end offensive specialist who is dangerous with the man advantage in the pros.

He said he purposefully avoids passing to players who have opposition defenders “in their face.” And he loves to draw those players in not just to free another player up, but possibly multiple players.

“I’m more of a player who sees one play before the other (play),” he said.

To me ever since Scott White was promoted to assistant GM before the 2017 NHL draft the Stars drafting has improved quite a bit. This also seems like a Scott White type pick especially since he announced it.

Solid choice.
Bourque could arguably become the best 3rd line center in the NHL in the next few years.

This was the first time that Dallas picked a player out of the QMJHL since Philippe Desrosiers in 2013. I knew it was in like forever the Stars picked a player from the Q
