I don't think the term is even bad. His style of play should age well enough that he could be a serviceable bottom pairing guy at the end of the contract.

4 years is a bit dicey, as Suter has already shown signs of slowing down. He can still play in the top-four, but the worry is for ageing guys their game could suddenly fall off at any time.

The extra term is how you get a player of this caliber at a reasonable number.

If he declines late in the deal, it’s a number that is relatively easy to move or just buy out. This is a good deal for both sides.

Wow, the Stars have one of the best defense cores in the game. I hope this means Miro can take more risks and be a bit more offensive now that he doesn't have to be anchored to Oleksiak.
